Did the Marathon 2 have a different cab option other than the standard sleeper and day version ?
Is the BRS Marathon not a Mark 1. The other one has the Marathon 2 badge on the front.
I’m not sure Mk 1 and 2 are relevant, as there were narrow and wide cabs in both, weren’t there?
The BRS Marathon was a special order of 10 vehicles kitted out for the M/E. The last ones were delivered in 1976.
In 1977 Leyland introduced the Mark 2 with the brown cab trim and the sleeper as in the picture you posted. There were also other modifications and engine options but the cab remained the same size. I don’t believe there was any factory options for a larger sleeper.
Looking in my marathon 2 brochures there is no mention of the full length sleeper option, much is made of the short sleeper being able to legally couple to full length trailers…
Just realised the Foreign marathon 2 brochure i have is Spanish…Madrid address…
IIRC when the Marathon Mark 1 was first released there were three cab options,
wide sleeper, same dimensions as the BRS Overland model.
Standard sleeper, which became the factory fitted option on the Mark 2.
Day cab which had the option of rest bunk to fit back to front on the engine hump.
Going back fifty years now so memory may be a bit faded
I can see where you’re coming from now. That sounds right!
Yes. One of them did come a cropper.
The driver of that was on here a few years ago sandman norman or something i think his name was, escaped ok from the crash
That would have been Norman Ingram on the Nottingham Bus Firm (Middle East) thread. If you’ve got the patience to trawl through it all, here’s the link to the thread:

Was it captioned: Marathon arrives at Perly Gates?
What Pat Kennett and St Peter would have discussed, concerning the Marathon makes the mind boggle a bit!
Looks like it’s leaving the gates of Perly to me. I daresay Phil Llewellyn would’ve come up with a suitable quip.
