That’s impressive! Presumably a re-import 2nd hand, judging by the Q-plate. Robert

I think it’s a combination of the trailer bogie being set right back and the fact that it has multiple drop-side bays (6, rather than the usual 4 or 5) giving the impression of over-length. Robert

That’s a nice looking outfit! I wonder if that picture was taken when it was working or is that a resto project? Looking at all the stuff in the screen it looks like its working but then it also looks very “clean”! Anyone know anything about it? Its a smart truck whatever its doing!

Looks like it may have been working going by the pipe in the tank he may have been “filling up”

This may be an owner driver’s newly kitted-out long-hauler (perhaps M/E). Clues are: what looks like fuel being blown through from a belly tank (not visible), as you suggest; the presence of two (ie long-range) fuel tanks; the trailer side-box built into the underrun bars; and what looks vaguely like a folded TIR carnet in the windscreen. Just a guess! Robert

Yep, I picked up on the same clues, but I thought it looked very clean to have done any distance. Its definitely a working truck though. Maybe he had just got loaded, and, en-route to the ferry, had pulled over into one of those little lay-byes the A20 to “sort his fuel out” before shipping over!!

Nice looking set up though.

I agree! I wouldn’t mind climbing up into the cab and piloting it wherever it is bound (especially as that’ll be a ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ set-up). Robert

The above lorry is not a Transcon- it’s a last-of-the-line Spanish Dodge, like this one:

…that I found here:
google.co.uk/search?q=renau … CqcQsAQIHA

As for the trailer, it looks like nothing from the Iberian Peninsula to me. Those tri-axle trailers with double wheels are/were popular in some African nations, IIRC, but the driver looks more European, somehow, although I can’t quite put my finger on it! I’ll leave further speculation to someone better-travelled than myself. Robert.

That’s interesting, and yes you’re right now that I’ve noticed the Renault badge on the front! So does anyone know what driveline the big cabbed Renault-Dodge had? We know a fair bit about its Barrieros-Dodge predecessor but I’d be interested to know what engines and gearboxes obtained in this (to me) new discovery!

As for the trailer, it is quintessentially Spanish in design, and the slightly unusual rear bogie (for Spain) shouldn’t put us off because this rearward triaxle design was popular in Europe for a while. IIRC those trailers were a bit of a bugger to reverse in tight places.

Well spotted Anorak! Robert

Ain’t that just the most English motor doing “abroad” you’ll ever see. Q plate, left hand drive, lovely looking converted tilt and the old lady next to the chofer, excellent

Bet a pound to penny there’s a proper size belly tank hanging under the trailer.

Robert, it’s a Spanish one for sure, I am trying to post a link but can’t seem to get it right.

If you google Jorge Juan Transportes there’s a lot of old Spanish photos on a Spanish themed trucknet…

Good heavens! Even Willi Betz had one - and I’ll bet it was quick than those Merc NGs! Robert

No idea where the picture was taken but the cab looks like the one that Hoss had on his Transcon when he pulled for Lawrabian, late eighties. It could have been just a cab transplant or his unit but I seem to remember that his was a 6x4.

Dirty Dan:
Here is my mate Ove. Somewere in BG/RO on his way home from M/E. He used it down there 3-4 year and hade no big problems during that time with it.

Hej Danne
My friend Christer from Hjo used to drive a red Transcon to Turkey, I cant remember the name of the boss but he was also a good collega. they used to take turns doing trips and having time at home. The boss also had a plastic powder coating company in Hjo. I used to spend midsommer with them at Lake Vaettern.

Hej Gavin! Al good in the sun? Was he called Bosse?
Here is a pic if him. Credit to Vespen for the pic! vespen.se
