Good opportunity even if tied to the company for 2 years
Yet another example of employers being proactive to attract new blood. Brilliant opportunity for folks to get their licence without any apparent cost and end up with a decent job.
The driver shortage is finally becoming a reality.

Not only training paid for , trainee gets full pay while training

Apparently nowadays this is against employment laws,a company cannot tie you to them financially even if they fund the training, guess they have to rely on the fact that it’s a full time job and you’ll stick around out of loyalty and that no one else will take you on without experience.
is that true about employment law? you really have to be in the right place at the right time to get lgv training, if they can’t put terms and conditions on it, you will see the remaining few opportunities dry up.
You don’t have to work for them for 2 years. If you leave you may have to pay for the training given. It was a part of my contract on the buses years ago. As soon as you’ve passed your test 2 years period started. I’m not sure what happened if driver got sacked during this period though.

Yes it is true, these agreements are no longer worth the paper their written on after one went to court and it was decided that a company cannot financially penalise someone for the cost of training given to do a job they employed someone to do.
Years ago they used to do it,until it was challenged in court.
