LGV test in Holland

Any help gratefully received on this, how can I find out about training and LGV tests in Holland? My brother is moving to Holland in a couple of weeks and wants to do his licence(s) there to enable him to find a new job, does anyone know anything about it or can point us in the right direction please?

Not sure if this is what you mean - i’ll try and find some more

From what i can remember. I Think you will find its a lot more expensive and takes several weeks, maybe even months to do it over there.
Will ask a Dutch friend

Confirmed

I tis extremely expensive in Holland probably at least double that in the UK and a lot more complicated as you do not only have to artic but drawbar as well

 I was just going to say that  but Drivers with licences before 2000 dont need it,so I was told by my arbeidsleiter.

Is there some part of the drivers training spent in the workshop? I worked with a young lad who told me he had done this, but he may have been on a Young Driver Scheme or something.

His Uncle ran P&O Tankmasters in Europoort at the time.

Drivers born before 1955 don’t need a Chauffeurs Diploma so another 10 years or so and they’ll all be retired.
The bad news about a Chauffeurs Diploma is that the exam is in Dutch, but good news is that you don’t need it if you have an EU licence and don’t exchange it for a Dutch one.
A Dutch HGV licence is a nightmare these days, several theory and practical exams, separate tests for class C and CE, costs about 5-6000 euro and if you do it all in less than a year you deserve a medal!

The good news bit is not quite right, you don´t need the Chauffeurs diploma if you have a EU licence form another country and are NOT resident in Holland if resident you still need it, having said that there are cases where the lack of diploma has been overlooked as soon as the person concerned starts shouting about EU labour equality laws although I suppose this little ruse will now disappear as the CPC comes in to force.

Yes, this rule seems to change quite regularly although I’m sure that has absolutely nothing to do with the change in demand for cheap Drivers from Eastern Europe
According to ivw.nl/onderwerpen/vrachtaut … rsdiploma/
You can drive ( and be resident ) on an EU licence until it expires. After that you have to exchange it for a Dutch licence. However, this licence will be endorsed with a Code 70 exempting the holder from the need for a Chauffeurs Diploma.
So, good news for the OP (I think).

Given that you can get all licenses for around £1200 in the UK and do it all in a week including tests the Dutch option disappeared faster than an illegal finding an open French truck heading for a Sea France boat.

I did my test in 1989 at Featherstone and as I remember it we were only out 20 minutes and the examiner got me to stop at the bank in Bushbury for him. I wonder if that still happens ■■? Oh and yes I did pass LOL.

My Nephew is a part-time fireman in Holland and they are putting him through the LGV . He is struggling with the theory exams ( He is fluent in Dutch.)
he said it is very difficult. I told him to persevere as it will be worth it.
