LGV medical cost

Recently had my LGV medical for licence renewal(45), just wondering if the cost can be claimed for against tax, or any other way?

Are you PAYE or self employed?

PAYE.

You can definitely claim this cost against tax whether you are self employed or PAYE.
Go to HMRC.gov.uk
and follow prompts to something like, " claim expenses for which you are not reimbursed by your employer" While you are at it, assemble any other costs, maps, sat nav, protective clothing and boots, subsistence, medical insurance, union subscriptions etc., for which you can also claim.

Claim via a P87 Expenses in Employment form. You’ll not get the full amount back, just the equivalent of the tax you’d have paid on that amount had it been your wages so if you earn below £10,600 you’ll get nowt, if you earn between £10600 and the £42k 20% limit you’ll get back 20% providing you’re earning what you claim above the tax free allowance, if you earn more than £42k you’d get 40% back.
