LGV licence suspended for using mobile phone

“Driving behaviour is impaired more during a phone conversation than by having a blood alcohol level at the UK legal limit.”

I’d go along with that. Whilst the drink would impair your judgement, it would not distract your attention; in fact the knowledge that you have drunk excess alcohol might well make you concentrate harder, although that would of course be cancelled out by the effects of the alcohol on your co-ordination and reactions.

I confess to having had a couple of lapses of attention even with a hands-free, and I’m sure I’m not alone.

I have seen dozens of 100mph + beemer drivers, answer the phone and slow down to around 40 mph without even realising it. Its a scary thing if you are riding a bike close by to know these people havent got a clue what is happening around them.

It is not all BMW drivers, it happens with trucks and vans too

I think the ban on using phones has led to an increase in texting while driving. I seem to pass a hell of a lot of cars these days where the driver is texting with the phone held way down low out of sight.

Any Ladyeeeez and Gents on here wanna fess up to excessive txting whilst driving, or shall they remain silent :unamused:

Define excessive…
