Hi I was thinking of LGV training at Kent Metro, they seem like a good outfit & ive already been for a trial drive, in the four over four trucks. While I was there, I also saw some smaller looking LGV trucks by DAF, with a slap-over gear box, that were available to train in if I so wanted. From a certain angle they almost look like a big van.
My question: has anyone ever driven these, what are they like? How did they find kent metro as well?
I used to work for Kent metro they are a very professional outfit the trucks are well maintained and all according which instructor you get they have a very good pass rate.
Having said that all the instructors that I know there are good but there are some I don’t know so wont comment on there pass rates.
I did my c+e with them and found them really good, very friendly and professional.
Thanks for the replys, anyone know the model of those smaller DAF slap-over gearbox trucks or what they like to drive?
i did my class 2 at kent metro. had the assessment drive with the owner of the firm. nice chap.
i did my class 2 in the smaller trucks because that’s what was available at the time of the assessment.
as you say they are just a large van to drive round. the only thing i did find with them was that the slap over box was stiff but you get use to it after a while but to start with it was hard work on the shoulder when you have never used one.
when i did my class 2 with them i never shopped around. just booked it as i was happy with the price and the people at the place and the guy that was going to be training me (Colin).
i have been back down for a drive in the artic with them but thought that the price was a little too much from them and have yet to go to the other firms to see what they come up with.
if you want a easy day and test the the little truck will get you past the test.
