LGV Agency advice

Hi all,

I am looking for advice on agencies in the Hindley Green or Wigan area. I am at the very start of my LGV career with my classroom based 35 hour CPC training starting next Monday. I would appreciate any and all advice that you experienced truckers have to offer.

Thanks

Have you passed your Cat C / C+E yet

Have a look around there are plenty of agencies about

You just have to look at some of the job sites to find in your area

Hi Animal,

No not yet. CPC next week, theory and hazard perception week after and practical training and test week after that.

Optimistically trying to find a slot to jump straight into.

As it is coming up to the busy time of year you should be able to get some work in on agency but after christmas don’t be surprised if it falls of a bit

Good luck with the training

When I passed my C+E it opened a lot more doors so would advise going for that as well although you may get offered Cat C work or van don’t be afraid to take it as the agency don’t know you so may have to prove to them you are reliably etc before being given other work or you may be lucky & get what you want straight away

I don’t understand, if you haven’t done the theory or hazard tests why are you doing 35 hours periodic training ?

Do you have cat C1 on your licence through acquired rights ?

If you haven’t got cat C1 on your licence you’re wasting your money doing the 35 hours periodic training, I’m not even sure if you can, if you do have cat C1 on your licence you can do either the initial CPC or the 35 hours periodic training, you don’t need to do both.

Hi,

Yes I have C1E on my licence. I was told that 35hr CPC is a good idea for me…if all else fails 7.5t here we come!
