Had a bit of a ropey fridge on this morning, throwing blue exhaust everywhere when it starts up, which got me thinking as I was filling up with AdBlue. All trucks and buses have to have euro whatever level engines so that they’re squeaky clean etc for London, but there’s no rules like that for fridges?
Is there?
And what about plant? As in diggers and dumpers on construction sites etc?
when we moved kit to the exel last jan, we was charged to taking the lorry in, but they weret botherd with the three derv generators that were running for 7 days continuous , the nearby hotel did though
Think about all the river boats pumping out diesel exhaust fumes, plus the sludge that is burned by bigger ships…then there’s the diesel trains.
Interesting, a Euro 6 truck will now produce more carbon particulates from its tyres than it will from its exhaust.
If you took a Euro 6 truck to Mexico City and drove it around, what would come out of the exhaust pipe would be cleaner than what was going into the air filter.
Just goes to show that the LEZ is a load of bullocks aimed at making money of the easy target motorist! If every combustion engine in London whether it be a generator or a truck was LEZ compliant I imagine the air quality in London would be fabulous.
Did you have one of the new units with the adblue?

So a diesel engine ■■■■■ in the dirty air, squirts in a load of hydrocarbons (diesel) and burns it with the dirty air then reacts it with a nitrogen based compound (add blue) and the exhaust gas is cleaner than the crap that went in?
Maybe we should build a few giant Euro 6 engines and put them in the middle of large cities,■■■■ in all the “dirty” air and lo and behold clean air,we could even connect them to giant generators so we get “clean” power too.
I suspect the sulpherous sludge that masquerades as ‘diesel’ in mexico would kill any modern engine in fairly short order though.
In answer to the original poster, modern plant etc does have to meet its own emissions standards, and the latest kit does have SCR, AdBlue, PM filters etc. Even farm tractors do.
But there’s no LEZ, so far as I know, preventing ‘dirty’ kit from operating on sites in London.

This was done on BBC’s Top Gear, Jeremy Clarskon was testing a car (can’t remember which) which was quite economical. Think it was a Porsche or summat, not a truck giving around 8mpg average.
