Leyland Freighter Restoration Help

Hi all,

I have volunteered to help restore a 1989/1990 Leyland Freighter 13.13 cherry picker for an aviation museum. Overall it is not in bad shape, with just some patches needed on the cab at the normal places.

Here is a picture:

Now, the bit of hello need is on starting. I am not sure of the engine yet, but I am told it once ran out of fuel. It has since been bled, and does run, but only after easystart is used. What could be causing this? Doesit need re-bleeding? If so, where are the bleeders?

Thanks in advance

is that the bleeders that took the money off you ?

Sounds more like the initial ignition is struggling, your getting fuel by the sounds of it, maybe it’s dirty or has moisture in it, I’d have a full fuel line purge.check the tank, then start checking the electrics

Use that easystart to much and they get addicted to it, then it’s the only way they will start.

@ringfur: I did not buy this, and I will not be paying a thing for any parts etc. Site boss will.

@Mickey-t: good idea. I was thinking along the dirt lines myself but was not sure. Will look at this on Wednesday when I am next there.

@altitude: I am hoping to get her fixed before its too late and that happens.

Thanks for the advice. Any help is appreciated.

Hi all,

Quick update, we have a warning light come on. Can anyone tell me what its for?

Thanks in advance.

Quite possibly Power steering oil level. A picture showing the rest of the warning lights would help.

Why not put a fuel line into a 5 gallon drum full of clean deisel,When bleeding it make sure the ignition is turned on, also what engine has it got in ?, Regards Larry.
