Letter of attestation

i understand that. but i had my card on me and would of made a manual entry before commencing any driving. Just like someone coming off a weekly rest or holiday.

For 28days!!! That’s an attestation letter not manual entries.
Did you consider it before going? From an employer point of view that could be why they stopped it

so what your saying then is because i havent worked for 28 days and therefore have no employer for that time frame i can never drive again. Or at the very least i have to go and work in a different sector for a month.

Sounds to me a convenient way to stop english people working.

Regardless of the fact that no work was done for 28 days the official method for written records for UK only work is on printout paper or analogue tachograph charts, for the time being the DVSA will accept attestation letters but an attestation letter is not obligatory for UK only work.

You seem to have missed the point and the ease that you could have solved the matter and avoid it in the future. On day 1 that you start driving, you must still be able to demonstrate what you have done for the previous 28 days. Its non-negotiable. Otherwise, there could well be cowboys who continually say ‘Sorry, its my first day and I don’t have any records’

All you need to do is a read up about attestation forms or recall them from your Driver CPC, and when you know you’re going to drive or anticipate you will be driving, is to complete the attestation form before you get behind the wheel. That way, if/when you are asked for your 28 days records, you are fully compliant.

Its no different from the person who normally works in the office and is suddenly asked to do a day’s driving - they have the same obligation for having 28 days records.

well i have records on my tacho that prove it isnt my first day.

all attestation letters need a company to fill it in. fine if i have been doing an office job for the last x amount of time but i havent.

yep and they simply put their card in and enter them. or they have access to a tacho and can borrow a lorry once a week and enter them on a weekly basis.

So say you haven’t worked for over 28 days as you’ve been unemployed .
You get a job /assessment what’s wrong with just inserting your card and basically do a manual entry saying rest since it was last used.
Or am I missing something. If you haven’t been working at all you’ve been on rest /break

im not getting it either but apparently you need this magic letter signed by a company that you havent worked for. otherwise i could write on the back of a tacho slip no work between x date to x date or as i have entered the vehicle to get the tacho slip i could just put my card in and do a manual entry. which i would have to do anyway and would cover the dates
