Letter from parliament

After our recent loss of a good trucker in Crick…We decided on here to bombard our MP’S regarding the state of trucking/parking facilities in the UK.
Well…I got a letter from the Minister For Transport, saying he “PROMISES” to look into it! :open_mouth:

I guessed it was ■■■■■■■■…Isn’t the Minister a SHE? (Allegedly)

Yep probably already has taken a glance. (for 5 seconds as they usually do) :imp:

With that he can say he kept his promise.

No idea, don’t they change that minister on a regular basis? I can’t keep up with it all.

Ditto! :unamused:

Yeah she was on telly the other night, looked like she would struggle to sort out bike sheds, let alone lorry parking. :unamused:

not sure, think i was jv show, where a minister went out with a trucker for the day, when they got to a msa at 1730 on a friday there was plenty of room to park up,so he amediately came to the conclusion that all was well with the overnight parking situation.
lord adonis i think it was…thick ■■■■

i happen to know a lord, he is really into anything truck related, and a collector of vintage lorries.
on many occasions he has brought up the problems that we deal with on a day to day basis. things like: unsafe parking, outdated speed limits, over regulation, health and safety hitlers. he’s tried loads of times.
and he hasn’t managed to find anyone in the lords, or the commons who gives a [zb]. they just arn’t interested.

Justine Greening is the Secretary of State for Transport

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport is Mike Penning

maybe if every trucker in the country went on strike for 1 day( just like those civil servants and teachers did etc)then i bet the government would sit up and take notice because it would cost the uk economy billions in lost revenue and nothing being delivered to anywhere…

I don’t think a strike will endear us to the rest of the country but if every driver had 3 days off sick on the same day, well that would cause a lot of problems, trouble is there ain’t enough drivers left who would stick together and ram the point home that we are [zb] off about the way we are treated by all and sundrie.

No need for strike or sick time - it just needs ALL the lorries in the country, no matter where they are, to stop for one hour, say from 1pm till 2pm, and claim rest period. The resulting chaos would take hours to clear.

I’m in. In fact I’m usually in bed at that time so more than happy to contribute to this one.

Although trying to claim a 1 hour rest period would be a bit iffy. The resulting loss of licence for so many drivers, those that just stop on the motorway for no reason for instance would also do wonders to help newbies struggling to get a toe hold in the industry.

This has got legs, we need to pursue this idea.

OK, how about " It just stopped guv! Don’t know whats wrong with it"

Only one lot can sort this out US, ALL PARK UP, OR WARN THEM WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH.

It’s always been in the hands of the Road transport industry to stop the UK,dead in its tracks! Even more so to-day with “just in time deliveries” and wouldn’t take but a few day’s to demonstrate the point either, and nobody would starve to death either while the protest took place. With all the hi tech/hi spec motors of to-day and the skill necessary to handle them, the politicians wouldn’t be able to,in the course of the few day’s it would take, replace all the HGV drivers,no chance. But if it could be done it sure as hell would send one almighty message to those who have always “looked down” on the industry as to how important transport was to the economy. However, unfortunately, there has never been that kind of solidarity within the industry so unless it is the drivers that “stop” en bloc the very thought that such a statement as a mass “park up” could be achieved is ,as it always has been, just wistful thinking!! Cheers Bewick.

About time we had more FREE secure parking with cheap decent food.

everyone stopping for 1 hour won’t work.
it gets tried every day around knutsford, stafford, birmingham, dartford, dover, calais.
