The letter d on a green background stands for ‘domenica’, the Italian word for Sunday, and means the vehicle / trailer (and what SHOULD be in it  ) is exempt from Sunday driving bans.

… I always thought it was an instruction to loading bay staff as to when to unload it. (d = domani)
:open_mouth: Two "d"s means dopo domani :grimacing: :stuck_out_tongue:

Sunday in Spanish is Domingo, what the chuffing ell has an Italian word or trailer got to do with a post about a SPANISH trailer with D on it ?

Toby,

AFAIK, it was the Italians who started the “d” idea and maybe it’s only valid in Italy, so it makes sense that a Spanish fridge might well have a “d” on it if it goes to Italy and needs to run on a Sunday at some point in time.

Maybe it’s nothing to do with chuffing Domingo or chuffing Spain.

Is the correct answer.

However, these days it becoming increasingly rare to see a western European registered vehicle pulling a fridge with a “d” badge outside Italy as most international work is now carried out by our eastern European brethren.

  Chill out toby, its unlike you to go “chuffing” about things. As has already been stated, and AFAIK, the D symbol was an Italian thing, regardless of which nationality the trailer is plated to, and as such means Domenica, or the trailer is certified to run on a Sunday in Italy. Chill bruv, chill.
