lesson learn't

ref my other post about load bearing curtains and strapping loads,on Monday I was not a happy chappy knowing I had to start strapping my loads,i was in a foul mood all day,on the last drop I tried to unhook the last strap from the load by pulling it with a bit of force instead of unhooking from the other side, result was it came flying over with some force and the metal hook cracked me on the forehead just above my eye,i then threw a wobbly cos of the pain and then I saw the ground turning red with big spots of claret, the bloody hook gashed my head open, luckily it didn’t last and a first aider managed to stop the flow of claret, started thinking maybe I should have worn a hard hat,but as my post say’s,lesson learn’t,now I walk round, undo the other side and lift the hook out, very painful lesson to learn.

On the other hand today i was glad about straps after being diverted in to ‘just pick up two pallets’

Yeah custom made pallets each holding a 3t cylindrical pressure tank.

I put enough straps on that to make a ■■■■■■■ store look like a convent

lol, like it,and I don’t blame you, better to be safe than sorry, the worst part of my cut was two days later I forgot about it and wiped my head,it was still very tender, cue shouting in pain again, lol.

You don’t need a hard hat, that’s mangler thinking, you just need to use the equipment the right way!

It’s the person walking the other side of the truck that needs a hard hat for when the straps get thrown over the load
