lesson learned.

So as the title suggests ive learned a valuable lesson today. always make sure you have a spare gas canister for your stove. and also tins/jars of food.

i start tramping next week (i think. date tbc) but done 2 nights out this week at the NEC yesterday i had to go hungry cos im a clot and forgot to pack some food other than pasta. no way was i spending nearly 10 quid on a chuffing butty from subway. ill wait. anyways big do’s and little do’s i bought some stuff for my tea from tesco thismorning when i got tipped. Subsequently pulled up and spent the day hanging about came to make some food before i put my card in just before midnight and lo’ and behold Ive run out of sodding gas so i cant cook the sodding food i sodding well bought this morning

rant over. have a good night ladies and germs

I always have 2 extra cans of gas and a store of cans including tined rice (can eat cold ) but also cracker breads and cereal (just add milk ) tub of peanuts

Dunno which Subway you’re eating at…

I get a BMT on herb and cheese bread with everything on it (except sweet corn),spicy cheese, extra red onions, extra olives and extra chilli’s, smothered in southwest sauce and a cup of high fructose corn syrup (diet) for £3.00.

Using the loyalty card, three or four times a year more or less, I don’t pay for it either.

Bon appetite`

Yep me too, has to be done

Subway has to one of the best places to grab a bite when you’ve been caught out, at certain sites they are doing better breakfast before 11am deals than Greggs, but their normal menu isn’t exactly at Starbucks/Costapacket ■■■■ take levels.

If the job won’t cover a decent bite to eat, especially on a night out, its time to find another bugger.

Exactly! And if he runs out of cooking gas and / or grub, serves him right for parking in some crap hole of a lay by, or somewhere with no facilities like NEC when it is shut :unamused: .
Park on edge of a town, ind est, retail park etc, ie. nearby shops, cafes, chippys, take aways and yeh… (shock horror :open_mouth: ) pubs,…(.sorry to offend the self righteous types on here by mentioning pubs on a night out)
It aint complicated, as we both know.

Yep, stroll down to the island where A45 and A446 meet will reveal a Toby, decent carvery piles of good veg and an affordable pint, that’s what i call a lorry driver’s night out.

For those near who don’t know the layout of the land, the quietest nearest layby is the one on the slip road from the island itself toward A45 Cov bound, the layby is actually on the slip road and not too much traffic uses that slip road. 446 itself is as busy as the bloody motorway.
You can find other parking within strolling distance but that layby aint bad as far as they go, no guarantees on your fuel/load during the night mind.

Might be other pubs/eateries within walking distance but never had need to find one.

Best thing to do at the NEC is walk across the covered path to the airport 10 mins and a selection of stuff.

the job pays i just refuse to pay that much for a small butty.

i was on east 5 car park which was silent and free so i got a good night sleep. the gas thing was just inexperience. and yeah i should have gone exploring but its just too damned hot

:unamused: And what sort of attitude is that.
It’s a bloody good job David Livingstone didn’t say that before he discovered Africa, that’s all.I can say. :bulb:

Thats what you do on a night out, go exploring. Lock up, get walking and find a nice country pub. But I don’t park in lay bys. As for the gas, always carry a spare pack. £4 for a pack of four in my local pound shop.

I learned a valuable lesson this week. When opening rear barn doors, once the right hand door is opened and you are greeted with the sight of a reusable airbag, there is a fair chance that there is one behind the left hand door.

Furthermore…I also learned that IF the left hand door is VERY tight to release, it would be good practice to not stand with your face next to the handle as you bang it up with the side of your fist.

And then I learned that wearing my sunglasses at the time was extremely fortunate.

I cant just pop into anywere for food.I have to eat gluten and wheat free food or its a bad day so have to take the lot with me.If a want to eat out its costs a small fortune because of it but at least am not over weight and fat like some of the drivers you waddling about.(The last part is not aimed at anyone in this topic)
