TBH what you say is… eg. knife crime in London is an every day occurrence so that’s the way it is…let’s not bother doing anything about it. Who the F cares if innocent people die?..
Does not involve me so lets things carry on… Great attitude.
Oh dear.
The age old tactic of comparing a traffic incident with a heinous crime,.and making an analogy of it, to ram home a point…not worth addressing Jakey tbh,.and I thought even you were better than that.
I ain’t condoning it,.I’m being realistic, and facing facts.
Of course I agree these idiors are just that…idiots, but they are always going to be there until the Police prioritise on them rather than…well you know where I’m going with this, so what’s the point of continuing.
More police presence on the roads is the only way to sort it, and you and Rowley rambling on about it ain’t gonna make a [zb] of difference.
Just trying to get my point over to the ones that class these dangerous drivers as everyday occurrences because nine times out of ten nothing happens. Never have I said that me or anyone else rambling on about it will make any difference and I never expect it will however others regarding them as an everyday occurrance and ignoring them makes me angry because I have seen the grief and life shattering things that occur when it all goes wrong. I do however agree more police presence would help prevent such bad driving.
Now we’ve established that then you give it a rest, surely?
You are legally allowed to drive at 50mph in a car or even slower even if it’s safe to do 70. Deal with it.
It’s drivers like you doing what you’ve just described why everyone on the road hates us. Nice one thanks.
[/quote]
Driving like that would also see you fail a driving test it is a requirement to make progress.
It’s not illegal presently but as the roads have got more congested there does seem to be a bit more of a war on the potterers about. The argument ‘I’m doing the speed limit so no-one should need to go past me’ didn’t wash when they cracked down on middle lane hogs.
The fast=dangerous and slow=safe isn’t really the full picture.

There’s plenty of stuff you could fail a driving test for that isn’t technically illegal. Until a minimum speed limit is introduced if a car driver chooses to do 50mph on a motorway they are well within their rights to do this. Yes it means professional drivers have to go to the trouble of checking mirrors and moving into another lane and back again, I know that’s a difficult and annoying task to have to do when we just want to sit there with cruise control on.

You sound like the kind of guy that goes in and tongue punches the transport managers ■■■■■■■■ before you do your daily checks.
cgscott:
I tailgate everyone. If your going to be a tadger and drive at 52mph on a motorway il get tight up your ring overtake you then shave your wipers with my back doors on the way back in. Sue me.

So you’re basically encouraging anyone to drive in any way they fancy as long as they can’t be prosecuted for it?
Driving like that would also see you fail a driving test it is a requirement to make progress.
That is irrelevant in normal driving. They are not on a test. They have sat a test and passed it and they are quite entitled to sit at 50 if they want. When you sit a driving test you are showing you are capable at driving to the speed limit if conditions allow.
Yes it can be annoying and sometimes dangerous but it’s not usually the car driving at 50 that causes the danger. It’s the other idiots around them that think they should not be doing it.
There are plenty of trucks sit around 50. Why not have a go at them?

It’s the new definition of professional driver jake. Incapable of checking mirrors and overtaking so instead they drive dangerously close to a car that’s going a bit slow to try and either bully them to go faster or make a point to them.

Yeah seems to be. You know what I find quite ironic that on a supposedly professional driver forum because we advocate decent driving standards all we get in return is mainly abuse.
Some seem to even make excuses and stick up for the low standards and blame everything else but the bad driver. Ignore them, they say, nothing to do with you! Well sorry but if these clowns drive as they do then we are all tarnished with the same brush.
Has noboby any pride anymore?

Exactly. A forum full of professionals allegedly and all you get his excuses for poor driving.
Rowley010:
Is he just brain dead or inept at driving to a point where he can’t check his mirrors, signal and change lanes then either push a pedal or use his finger on the cruise control button to accelerate?
I fear this is going to remain as one of the Universe’s many unsolved mysteries…

Got to love google, quick search and bingo, dozens of articles all saying the same thing. This one was top of my search.
In a nutshell, drive too slowly and you risk being prosecuted for driving without due care and attention. From memory, that is “driving below the standards expected of a competent driver”.
Hate to disappoint but a car driving at 50 in the inside lane would not be prosecuted by the police. They would not be interested however if another vehicle was tailgating the said vehicle they would be the one likely to be prosecuted.
There are plenty vehicles travelling around the 50 mark on a motorway including lorries

Always amazes me how drivers both professional or not use that as the excuse. I followed dangerously close because in my opinion they were driving too slow, so to counter something that I find annoying I’m going to do something dangerous as my answer to it.
This is car drivers but say someone is hogging the middle lane, another car firstly goes up really close, when middle lane car doesn’t move do they move out to the offside and overtake legally? No they move to the near side and undertake illegally. Why not just go past safely and legally and be done with it rather than do an illegal manoeuvre to make some sort of point that the offending driver probably couldn’t care less about anyway. Human mind boggles.

All hail jake, master of the roads. Knows more than the RAC
"Minimum speed limits are rare in the UK, but they do exist in places where going too slowly can cause increased congestion or high risk of a crash, such as in tunnels.
They’re marked by a blue, circular sign containing the minimum speed limit, while the end of a minimum speed limit is signalled by the same sign with a red line through it.
Although there isn’t an official minimum speed limit on most motorways, travelling too slowly can be considered dangerous and you might attract the attention of the police.
In this case, you’d usually be let off after a verbal warning, but you could be prosecuted for careless driving."
Out here in the real world, we all know that your speed dial normally shows a higher speed than your actually traveling (although its illegal to have one showing a lower speed). That means that even though you think you’re plodding along at 50mph, you’re probably doing less. In light traffic and good conditions, that WILL attract the attention of your mates, sorry, the 5 oh, sorry, the feds. Sorry, I just have such disregard for the rules, ive gone all gangsta.

You sir should be made of wax you absolute melt.
Who cares. I just go outside or inside whatever lane is free at the time

Jake isn’t saying he knows more than the rac. He’s saying that there is no number that is actually defined as too slow. 50mph certainly isn’t it.
