99 cents to the GBP. Naturally, being a truck driver I am one of God’s Chosen Ones so I get a better rate. For my £100 on the way out, I got 100 euros and thirty cents…

Not looking to good now then??
It makes everything more expensive but we are doing a lot more export work at the mo so I guess it’s a case of six and two threes.
It’s good for us europhiles though.
I bought a Bose home cinema system in the UK last week and saved myself €300 on the price here in Belgium.
I also bought a new Pioneer satnav on Amazon UK.
The price here was €999,but I got it for €340!
God alone knows what rate Sea France must be giving, I would guess at around .96
Word on the Street locally is that things aren’t looking too good for them at the mo, btw.
there has always been rumours about Seafrance I think most of them were started by P&O

I heard that too, are they going to go down the same route as Speedferries, that went to the wall in November. (they did the fast craft Dov-Boul)

You can here the rumours here on our media in France too, so don’t think it has been started by P&O

I’ve always found the exchange rate better on the boat, the post office are robbing gets.
Try your bank instead

You must be on drugs Stuart!!
I was getting 2.40CHF - GBP on Norfolk Line, and 2.18CHF - GBP at the Post Office in Leighton Buzzard…(This was changing from CHF - GBP though, not the other way round(Hence less is more)… And at the bank in Muttenz, they were giving us 2.09CHF - GBP… The boat was and is a last resort for me to change money up!!

Depends which Ferry company.
I usually find Brittany Ferries exchange better than the bank or Post Office (but only at the Poole Freight desk, not the regular one).
I never change money either way, just take out money on my debit card and keep it in my wallet or pay for meals on credit card, especially in France. I never use Euros on the boat either as they cannot keep it simple and give you change back in same currency
Belgium can be a pain in the arse to get cash from the bank. France and Germany are definately the easiest.
I got stuck in the south of France for a couple of days waiting for a load of apples.
used up all my euro’s and didn’t have my card with me, went to every bank in the nearest town, could I change sterling. not one of the banks had a bereau de change.
cheese eating surrender monkeys
Best way of getting euros is a Nationwide debit card, they don’t charge a fee for ATM withdrawals on the continent, and on the trip before this, when Sea France were giving 1.06 to the GBP, I got 1.17 and 1.18 on two consecutive days that week.
