Shutting half the roads in london to accomadate it,then the hours and hours of traffic jams once it’s done with,most of the “cost” is worked out at cost to business much the same as when the motorways closed.
Oh come on! TfL only consider the cost to other people when it suits them. Look at the cost of all the measures required to bring a lorry into London. It is more likely that they are worried that johnnie foreigner will laugh his head off at their stupid PC cycle highways. Just think of the embarrassment when one of the lycra super-heroes snags a pedal on the stupid kerbstones running down the middle of the Embankment
Ive no idea where these costs come from, plucked out of the air I suspect. If they think it would be too expensive & can’t justify the cost why did they bid for it in the first place? It’s not as if they haven got recent experience having had a start a few years ago & had a stage when it started in Yorkshire.
And they’ve had a cycling road race starting & finishing in London for the last couple of years, no mention of that costing millions.
Most is the fee paid to organising company for rights to host .
Yorkshire paid it and returned about £8 for every £1 spent i seem to remember .
After the billions the goverment paid for olympics this seems cheap

Easy. First the roads, then all the extra buses that need to be laid on, all the extra security to manage the crowds, then you have all the extra power requirements from the TV crews and event staff, plus catering. It all adds up.
Less cycles anywhere is a result. Unless they are encouraged to use the motorway at night with no lights on.

I said its illegal to drive 10 hours on 4 days between weekly rests , simply because they span 2 defined weeks ie sat sun mon and tuesday , as an idiot proposed .
I am now happy that i was WRONG and bizarrely it is legal .
