Length restriction at lechlade on Thames

Was trying to get to the Hansen quarry earlier on the A 417. Was coming north on the a361 got to highworth and there was a sign for a 41,7" length limit at lechlade …
Could I have turned left on the a417?
Anyway to be on the safe side I backtracked and will come up the A419 to Cirencester then across to the quarry
Cheers mike

No you cannot turn. The length limit is just before the bridge but I think is more to do with the T junction.

You can go either to Cirencester then back towards It or upto Farringdon on A420 and cut across.

You can turn left, or right but it’s abit tight! :sunglasses: well 20 years ago with a 40’ TANDEM! it’s actually the bridge OVER the Thames that’s the problem and plod waits for you in the car park so you’re nicked as soon as you go over/ attempt from inglesham! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: lovely part of the world LECHLADE!

Thanks for that mark , At least I will know next time .

The A417 isn’t great in Fairford either. You can go off the A419 southbound, follow signs for Latton, Kempsford and raf fairford. You carry on through welford to the A417 and turn right at the crossroads. Northbound on the A419 you come off at a different junction, I think signed for Kempsford. This route is also for Tarmac at Eysey Manor pit and Cullimores at Roundhouse Farm.
