Left running??

…It’s actually common practice to keep left in quarries here in the US. It seems drivers need to see where the edge of the road is…

Spardo:
[- come on Vince, you’re the expert, are Russian women broader in the beam than Roman horses?

In my experience David, they are the same as women the World over- slim and lean and fit, until the moment they slip on that band of gold and then WHOOOOOMPHHH- it’s like someone just pulled the ripcord on a self-inflating lifeboat!

Alexx,
Yes handy near big drops. For the same reason many old FIAT trucks in Italy were made with right hand drive especially for the mountain roads. Probably doesn’t still go on, what with all the Autostradas. However, on that point, it is the reason why there are/were many right hand toll booths in Italy.

Vince,
Must have slipped up somewhere, my other half is built like my greyhound, but not so fit!

Salut, David

Just yesterday, I was driving home from skiing, and I saw a right-control Subaru legacy wagon behind me. This is one of only 2 right-control vehicles that have been sold in the US in the last 10 years (the other being the plain old US Postal Service van, not available to the public), and it’s just a plain-old Subaru AWD automatic, one that was made for independant rural mail delivery people.

Lazy gits, can’t be bothered to get out of the motor! Here in France they just swerve to the wrong side of the road. In Britain, of course, the post box is in the front door, not at the gate, so postie is one of the fittest jobs going.

Salut, David.

i dont know when the last time you where in gibralter but i drive on the right when i go

What about them blokes who deliver steel and timber in France?

They could do International haulage with those centre steered Renault things :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, we have some center-control steel delivery trucks here as well. Looks a bit cramped in them, though. I knew a guy who once drove one of them, and he says they called it the “rolling outhouse”.

Yeah, where’s the door on those things? Front, back or roof? Or do you just have to hope you get tipped before knocking off time?

Salut, David.

well it seems that there must have been a rumour spreading about years ago that england may change to driving on the other side of the road…cos firstly british rail couldnt make up its mind and brought out the scarab with the steering wheel in the middle…and scammel coupling…then there was the good old fashioned milk float, and that had the steering in the middle too…probably nothing to do with delivering on both sides of the road eh !..
there are rumours afoot that ireland is going to change over to driving on the right…this will take place first in southern ireland at midnight on the 1st feb 2005…northern ireland will stay the same…
have a nice day
