Left lane right turner & Vis versa?

Has the law changed on all roundabouts now, where you can turn right in the left lane and left in the right lane where it’s not marked to do so??

A bit like the tossers who turn right or left from the centre (straight ahead) lane at traffic lights rather than queue in the filter lane with everyone else. :imp:

It would seem so ,judging by the amount of ‘drivers’ that do that on the new Carlisle bypass - Cretins !!! :imp:

There are quite a few truck drivers who intentionally turn right at rabs having entered and continued round in the left lane. They seem to think its ok to do it. :unamused:

After 4 car drivers playing beat the truck(in the last 2 weeks) round the left hand side of me whilst turning right at a roundabout i am now one of the crew who sit in the left lane all the way round at certain roundabouts.
Other than straddle both lanes on a 2 lane roundabout i dont know whats safest to do.

No change in the law necessary - the use of specific lanes for left/right turns has never been prescribed (or prohibited for that matter) in law. Using the wrong one is still ■■■■-poor driving though

Lane markings are often vague, wrong or non-existant. I think every lane on roundabouts should be marked with approach arrows to remove any doubt

I would rather be in the left lane turning right at a roundabout, especially if it was a smallish r/bout. It is safer - you can see.

The highway code allows for this as well even on a large roundabout in regard to large vehicles, cyclists and horses

In doingsuch the rider or driver must make it clear to others and be prepared for those who do not realise what they are doing

Yes, it goes without saying really, indicate leading up to and around the r/bout.
Am I right in saying a horse that wants to turn right on the road has to stay in the left lane? Or have I made that up?

What would happen in court after an acciden?

Where, lets say, you were in the left lane of a large roundabout, yet still indicating you’re turn right and some muppet joined the r/b from an entrance you passed and ended up piling into your o/s?

They still have to give way to the right.

This is the danger, they will assume from your road position you are leaving at an earlier junction and that your signal is in error.

The allowance is for large/long vehicles to negiotate small rabs.

Do you mean n/s?
I would take the view I’m on the r/bout and muppet has to give way. However, if it was a giant r/bout, I’d be in the correct lane

No, he means off side - as the car driver tries to take an exit the lorry driver is blocking off but the car driver “thought” the lorry driver was going to take as indicated by his road positioning. I’ve seen it, very nearly, happen on several occasions.

You are correct

Although the horse may not be aware of the highway code it is recommended that it has a rider who is … :unamused:
