Quite a few ERFs went to Switzerland during the '70s - mostly B-series and a handful of NGCs. The ERF importer and distributor was ERFIM AG of Neuhofstrassen 11, 4153 Reinach/Basel.
As for the pics you see out there: quite a number of truck enthusiasts would loiter variously at truckstops and MSAs round the UK and also at Dover on Jubilee Way. Some of them, like Peter Davies and Bubbleman turned out many high-quality and valuable historical pieces of historical transport evidence.
I too was one of those photographers on the docks roundabout at Dover one morning when I was doing a bit of freelance journalism for TRUCK mag. Suddenly, the police descended on me and tried to move me on. Apparently, they’d had trouble with animal rights activists trying to stop livestock transporters getting to their boats. It took me some time (and my press card) to convince them that I was a transport journalist
Splendid pic here by Paul Gee (posted on that thread by Deanb this week) of Phil Horridge’s LHD B-series ERF, of which there are several other examples on this thread
Oh gawd! Senior moment there, sorry. I meant, of course, provenance (as in the sense of origin or source). Progeny is offspring and we all know that even a LHD B-series ERF isn’t capable of having children
I tipped a tanker of vinegar (ex Sarson’s) in Dijon once, but most of my work around there was a wee bit further south, many, many, different collections of wines.
Lovely scenery, interesting work, good restaurants etc etc. Happy days.
Yes, I did the wine runs too. Enjoyed that. Going back to your amber headlamps, I used to paint mine with iodine (like many others) so that it would hopefully wear off before MOT time!
