Left digi card in tacho again yesterday :-(

Luckily somebody moved the truck an hour after I finished and took it out so no infringement [emoji28] I’ve done this a few times in the past, must be my age or summit [emoji57]
Anyway, I can’t be the only person with a memory like a sieve so wondered what do others use as a memory jogger to remove it at the end of the shift?

Use a badge holder and keep your digicard in a holder.

Luckily we have to download ours daily, so its only rarely this happens to me, if it wasn’t for downloading i’d do it twice a week at least.

For those who don’t know what to do, 2 printouts first thing the next morning/shift, write and sign an explanation on the back of both with your correct finish and start times, hand one to the person responsible where you work and keep one with you in case you get a tug.

I do the print out thing when I do it but it still p***es my off when I do it and screws up all my driving time etc. I was just wondering if somebody had an ingenious way of stopping this happening. If I was still using a regular truck I would maybe put a hook near the tacho and hang my car keys from it but I use different trucks everyday now [emoji17]
Something like that.

I physically touch a “checklist” before I get out of the cab.

  1. Handbrake, is it on?
  2. Lights, are they off?
  3. Beacon, are they off?
  4. Digi Card, is it sitting in its “home”? (Out of the tacho head)

I’m with F-reds. Usually you’re fairly tired at the end of a shift so it helps to have a routine. We have to download our cards every day so I always put mine on my clipboard with my run sheet to take into the office at the end of shift. At worst it means I get to the traffic office, hand over keys and paperwork and then see I’ve forgotten my card.

As soon as I get out of the truck, the night men are waiting to get in it. So if I leave my card in, its spotted by them fairly quickly. Though I reckon I’ve only done it once or twice.

A digi card is like your ■■■■, if you shove it in at the start.
Make sure eject it before pulling out at the end …

I worked with a chap that had an laminated A4 sized piece of paper with a list on, he put it in his paperwork holder so he always saw it last thing, worked for him.
Car Keys
Wallet
Digi Card

Good idea but would add efag and phone to that because I forget them sometimes.

I had a brain ■■■■ last Friday, pressed eject, ok’ed the end country, then got distracted and buggerred off home before pressing no to a printout. Wasn’t sure whether it would have registered being in all weekend or not, but luckily it had recorded the end of shift OK.

^^^^done that as well [emoji26]

I have a laminated A4 with “Digi Card” wrote on it. I place it on the passenger seat before I start the day & its the last thing to go into my bag when I finish, thus reminding me to eject digi card. I also have a laminated A4 with “No. Plate” wrote on it thus reminding me when Im trailer changing. Works for me!

Stick a peice of paper permanently on your cars dashboard and just write ‘Digicard’ on it.
Everytime you get in your car be it leaving home or leaving work the reminder will be in place. Downside is theres a substantianly increased risk of running out of fuel and speeding.

The old special of tieing a knot in ones hanky can also work. Or sock if you dont have a hanky. I have a sock laying about the cab just for this memory jogging purpose and a few other purposes socks werent intended for.

I have a routine in my head after every shift, Card, Phone, tom tom which are the only things that are out of my bag while working. Although I have never used my tom tom as I use the work one since going full time 7 weeks ago it is still in my head but routines work and it is the same for hooking up to or dropping a trailer BLACK = Brakes Legs Air Coupling Knumber-plate. Have a routine embedded in your brain and no matter how tired you are you never leave anything

I parked up for the night at Whitley Bridge last Thursday…had a brew, got showered, took a leisurely walk down to the pub in the village (miles away)… got back and thought ‘sh*t I’ve left my card in and on other work’ what a muppet…luckily I was parked up nice and early waiting for a load out of Euro Auctions in Eggborough Friday am so still had time to show a reduced rest even though in reality I had about 12 hours off!!!
