Left card in (derrr)

Hi lads I know this has possibly been done many times but looking for a bit of help. Finished on Friday night about 5.30 and due to her indoors want dropping off later on I’ve went and left my bloody card in and can’t remember if it was on rest or not . I not due away again until Monday morning about 4.30am so plenty of rest just not sure what to do if it wasn’t on rest. Any help lads would be greatly appreciated always take it out as a rule bloody woman .

It is not a problem,if the DVSA or the Police stop you, they can see you have not worked and accept it was a mistake in which the tacho mode switch was left in.
Even if it was left on crossed hammer or POA, it would take a hard nosed bod to nick you for it, but failing the attitude test is not a good option if stopped.
Write on the back of a printout when back in the truck and explain what happened, keep the printout for 28 days, and another printout to staple to the file for the computer printout that finds all the infringments, that will stay on file for longer than 28 days.
In the meantime, chill out, enjoy the weekend, and forgot about the tacho.

If the tachograph was left on other work do two printouts and write an explanation on them then sign them, hand one in when your driver card is downloaded and keep one with you in case you get stopped.

Good luck, I hope you find it on other work it makes life easier

just hope trucks not been moved either but as Tachograph and others say.

I’m no expert on the downloading side of stuff, but I’m pretty sure the office bods can actually amend that entry. Happened to me, explained it upstairs, and it just went away, no daft letter to sign or anything.

Hadn’t left my card in, some Charlie came to my window for a chat while I was doing my manual entries

they can only amend what they download not what’s on the card.

Cheers guys have never done that before ever .like boys have said would take a right knob to do you for that as is a genuine mistake just hope fitters didn’t put it in workshop as due to get new radio aerial fitted lol. Never mind though not a bloody crime is it but thanks for all the advice guys I’m sure I ain’t the first or last ha ha ha . stay safe lads .

To put it another way, you have not killed the Pope, it is not a hanging offence, a genuine mistake, you may find that your tacho re-set itself to bed mode “rest”, but every tacho is not the same.
The chances are you will not be stopped in the next 28 days.
The only problem out of your case, is going abroad to Europe, they will ONLY see the in-correct tacho mode and fine you thousands of Euros, if you told them it was a mistake, they would not care and just fine you.
Despite what drivers say, the Police and DVSA are only humans,in the UK you will have a chance to explain what happened.
In the Basque or Catalan areas of Spain, they just want money.

Been there done that do the print outs write the explanation on the back not a problem.
