Leaving Card at Work For Downloading

Left my digicard at work on Friday evening for boss to download on Saturday. Just checked it and it says last used 28/11/15 14.30. Done a printout for 28/11/15 and it says it was only in for 3 minutes. I worked the previous Saturday morning so needed the 45 hour rest this past weekend, obviously because boss put my card in to download it it has shown an interruption in weekly rest so I’ve done the usual explanation on the printout etc.
Does the card need to be in the driver 1 slot for downloading? I thought all downloading software was of the insert card into the handheld reader type?

Out our spot we have a device that plugs into the USB slot on a computer and we put the card in that at the end of every shift. Even though I put my card in it sometimes 10 minutes after the end of a shift it still shows the time the card was last ejected from the tacho the following day and not the time the card was downloaded.

Personally i wouldn’t leave my digi card with anyone for any reason

+1 always keep it with you unless you lose it or its stolen.

Never let it out of your sight…they can download it when you are there .

It doesn’t go in the head unit for downloading. I bet you gaffer has just cocked it up and put your card in, instead of the company card.

Don’t panic, you’ve done everything fine, its not your problem. But if someone asked me for my card over the weekend they would get told to do one, just to avoid this type of thing, or even something more sinister.

It takes seconds to download a driver card, a minute at most. Do it in your presence.

9/10 I’m there, it’s just typical I was late back the day we do the downloads (6 weekly) so I left it for the boss.

Your boss probably took it to a cash machine and withdrew the emergency £250 that’s stored on it.

Most companies use a card reader that’s attached to a computer but I believe there are download devices that can download both the VU and the card if it’s in the tachograph.

Tell you boss to buy a card reader so he doesn’t need to put the card in the tachograph or don’t leave the card with him.

My firm leave the hand held download unit in the canteen were drivers can get to it and do their cards

Speaking of which, have any of you heard about the trick where you can put your bank card into the tacho and do a print out and out comes a string of 20 pound notes?

These are good tacho rules

Downloading a drivers card in a header unit? Sounds like a load of old tosh.
