leaving a firm.

So i have nearly completed my 1 week notice.
I have got a new job with actual decent start time window.

I must admit since ive handed my notice in,i started getting a bit of silent treatment. It doesnt bother me as such, but i do think its childish.

Anybody else had issues with the same?

Had all sorts down the years. Plenty of silent treatment, funniest one was when I was asked to leave while I was waiting for a mate to finish work. Was outside the gates but the firm owned the estate

…and they wonder why you are leaving.

but i do think its childish.

Transport & logistics is child’s play anyway isn’t it, what do you expect?

ive never had a notice period, I’ve never got that far, I usually leave or get told to leave straight after throwing the toys out of the pram :sunglasses:

Sod em,
Thing is though iv seen guys leave my last firm and the manager shake his hand and wish him all the best then as soon as the door is closed gives him the hand gesture and tells everyone how he is glad that waynker has gone.
A lot of office guys are horrible people.

They get walked off site if they work in the warehouse who i work for,i saw one abit since with 2 managers and 2 security walking a poor sole to the yard gates,it was if he was coming out of jail, probably felt like it

A place I worked at (Steve66 and Tippermaster will vouch for this as they’ve worked there too) the boss will tell all and sundry that he sacked them, and what wonkas they were.
Funnily enough, all the ex employees think likewise of him.

For a weeks notice I wouldn’t have bothered! Month yes.

I like to leave on best terms but if that crap started for just a week I’d just not bother going back in

True.
He used to tell everyone we were sacked.
All bar us the people it relates to.

Just think, all three of us could’ve been driving around in one of those Mercedes Ewoks or whatever they’re called. Or maybe an ex Thames Materials Scania (the “Wonga Wagons”). Hang on Steve66 had the (dis) pleasure of driving one of those. Rumour is he used to spray an asthma inhaler into the air intake so he could take a load up Stokenchurch Hill.

Only had the silent treatment at one place, ironically the worse job i’ve had by a country mile.

In a way it’s a good thing and only confirms that you are doing the right thing by leaving.

As for the liars in some companies who twist the events and try to say you were sacked, maybe the way we should all resign now is by email, that way if you save it it’s timed and dated and a permanent record should bad feedback to any future employer (such as a sacking) kill the chances of a good job.

Escorting the prisoner off the premises, Jesus wept…they’ve been watching too much telly, should be in matching black suits and have a blacked out windowed GMC 4x4 ready to bundle the bad guy into for effect.

Good tactic, if possible, is to tell them you’re leaving driving to move into office work or something like that as it’s then less of a sense for them that they’ve been rejected in favour of a competitor.

Nowhere will be that thrilled someone’s going though as hiring new people was always a ballache I use to hate when I had to do it.

Worst i had was working for a small company, told them i was leaving they were panicking we need a driver for next weeks run i said don’t worry i’ll do two weeks notice if need be give you plenty of time to get a new driver. No problems cause never saw them anyways was always down the road all week.

Last shift, getting my stuff out the truck owners son appears, having a go. “Can’t handle a proper job” etc… tell him where to go money is crap got much better offer. Then starts saying yeah we are taking £300 off your last wages for damage to a trailer, i said what trailer he showed me it. I got out my notebook said not been near that trailer in 2months and last time i left it was in yard in Glasgow to be loaded to go down south and your telling me someone picked it up drove it all over the country with smashed lights and now your blaming me 2 months later when its my last shift. Told him if he took any money off my wages i’d go get a lawyer.

Paid me in full, was stupid on their part cause i had agreed at times if it was quieter with my new job and i had the hours would help out do occasional saturday shift for them but after that carry on wouldn’t go back near them

Seth, things like that are usually for a reason other than just leaving, its more than likely because they have been sacked after a hearing for a serious disciplinary offence.

By all accounts its the norm for the warehouse staff on their last shift, its so they cant do any damage or nick anything ,or give a manager they didnt get on with a slap

I left a warehouse job to move into driving with another company, I wasn’t walked off site, but I parted on good terms with the people there, and had been there almost 7 years.
