How soon are we going to see a change in the cars that driving schools use? With ICE cars on a sell by date within the decade which traditionally have gears or an autobox when will we begin seeing learners taught in an electric car. I mention this as our street is used by local driving instructors teaching learner drivers & I’ve never seen a EV once. BEV’s have no gears & there’s a big difference in the braking system with one pedal driving plus the automated systems on them are different from “normal” cars too. I thought I’d have seen one before now.

I’ve driven a few EV’s and not a lot different to auto ICE it’s still two pedals not one.
While it seems that the recent move to auto or nothing and wierd keyless ignition systems is all about conditioning car users to driving EV’s.
But as stated elsewhere EV’s aren’t mutually exclusive with proper 3 pedal clutch and manual type transmissions.
All moot if the regime is planning to remove the right of private car ownership/use.
Obviously no need to worry about votes in the new utopia.

That’s another thing! Is our generation going to be the last generation in this country to hold a “full licence”? with ICE cars coming to an end that also means no more new cars with gearboxes, clutches. What will happen to future HGV learner drivers who need to hold a “full licence” to apply for a commercial licence?
