Leaky door seal - Quick fix?

Scania R440. The door seal above the window is fubared, it’s not split, just worn with age and doesn’t seal properly meaning I keep getting dripped on. A lot. Anyone know any quick fixes?

A new one. I don’t think there’s much off a bodge you can do with a worn seal. I tried on the mrs convertible in the end I had to bite the bullet and buy a new one.

as a temporary fix you could roll a cloth up and place it along the top of the door and slam the door shut ,you would need to put it back every time you opened the door though and it couldn’t be too bulky

Been looking at it, it seems to be coming from the window seal and the door seal. I’m thinking there may of been a bit of damage at some point to the door but nothing looks out of place. Maybe someone was swinging on the door at some point. Will try the cloth trick!

Wind the window fully down, open the door, put your right knee where you might rest your arm, open the door slightly being carefull not to fall out. Put your two hands on the top of the door frame and pull it towards you. Intention is to bend the top of the door frame in. Wind window back up , close the door and see if its any tighter a fit.

Now that is not a and idea at all. Will give it a try, will have to be careful though as I’m parked on a duel carriage way

A good idea in theory but damned difficult to do!

They’re quite robust these doors haha, I was virtually stood on the door pulling back on the top part but it’s not budged. I’ve done similar on an old Ford Orion that got broke into years ago (they bent the door open from the top and I managed to bend it back), but these doors are quite heavy and thick. I like to think I’m no weakling either but I admit defeat. At least it’s stopped raining now :sunglasses:

It’s got the sun blind on which I think is beefing it up.

What I have done is carefully sliced the seal open with a Stanley knife (knew it would come in handy one day!) and packed it out with rolled up paper. Lets see how that holds!

Well it’s not rained since so I’ll never know if my genius idea worked or not.

There’s one of them that you can hear the air whistling through when you’re on the road… :-S

Which one was it on? One of the old knackered ones they brought in when they sent our decent ones to Goole?

Yeah it was probably the same one, think it was 5961, an 11 plate. In the torrential rain it was quite bad, as if you haven’t turned a tap off properly. Will only cause problems later in its life as it was dripping all over the electric window switches
