Not a nice thing to see and horrific for the HGV driver involved.

Might and I mean might have been a petrol Tanker driver don’t know of many HGVs that haunt that time of a Sunday morning… As you say the Driver will be well shook up…Hope his Company are decent and gives him/her the appropriate support

I agree.

Every little helps.

It was a Tesco’s store supply lorry. It’s a busy thoroughfare road. There is a express store about 300m before where this happened but I wouldn’t have thought they were taking deliveries at that time in the morning as they close at 11pm.

Some Tesco Metros can only restock in the middle of the night as they have no rear delivery and have to re-stock by the front doors.

Or through the back. Seen even small stores with shelf stackers. Bar stewards wouldn’t take the delivery (it was 12pm ish. Think I was somewhere near Macclesfield). Of course with residences nearby the restrictions are unforgiving. 10pm cut off usually. Some will be 6pm. No exceptions, even if they need it. :unamused:

It’s at times like this when it pays to be working for a proper company with the resources and systems in place, assuming he’s not an agency lad when he’ll more than likely be on his jack no workee no monee.

There but for the grace of God… Thoughts with the driver and his family, like a former colleague of mine went to work to do his shift as usual, on this occasion he ends up being arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving

Thankfully the driver is not being blamed for this incident which makes a pleasant change as all too often the driver is arrested whoever is to blame.
The latest news is that 2 men have now been arrested on suspicion of murder.

And also to be diligent about the speed limit once off the motorway.

Wonder if he had a dashcam too.

No workee no monee = free legal aid if needed

Thats all very well, but i’ve known several drivers similar things have happened to, some have an outlook where they know its nothing personal they just happened to be the one who cleaned the body up as it were so just shrugged and got on with life, others its a life changing experience and having a company that can offer some paid time off plus treatment of needed, then alternative employment for a period till the driver feels able to resume normal life or permanently if needs be, one never got behind the wheel of a lorry again.
