Just wanted to say how thrilled I was to see the article about Bob Carter and Trans UK Continental in last week’s Middle East special in Commercial Motor.
I know there is a lot been said about the likes of Astran,but there were an awful lot of other companies that ran to Afghanistan and Pakistan too,Trans UK being one of them.
Bob Carter was one of the best guvnor’s I’ve worked for and I had a lot of time and respect for him,and I know he was chuffed to bits to see the article in print.
At the reunion several years ago every former Trans UK driver said they’d go back and work for him at the drop of a hat,that shows the kind of respect and fondness we all have for him.
Well done Bob!
