Remember these ?1

I do indeed, I’ve got one somewhere.

Then youve probably got one of these

I have a collection of various points and bonus cards collected over the last 20 odd years, some from places I only went once and some that were well used and got me gifts or even just cash.

Next week it looks like I will be doing my last trip to Europe , and do you know what I couldn’t give a rats arse!

I have not done much in the way of European driving anyway it’s mainly been going to DHL European hubs but have been doing it for 12 years.

Anyway I thought I would share somethings I won’t miss about driving in my 12 years of "going-over the water "

  1. Driver [zb] you here on the train or ferry.
  2. Constant games of trumps with other drivers about there trucks, trailers, contracts,Wages or birds they have shagged, or the best way to such and such place!
  3. Stinking drivers on the Eurotunnel bus who insist that they must stand by the doors because of the " me first attitude "!
4.Belgium traffic laws , regarding overtaking in the rain or spray or fog or snow or … Whatever …
  4. Belgium filling stations where drivers park on the pump to get there coffee of frikendels !
  5. the B.A.G and there stupid “stop sticks”
    7.Mayonnaise
  6. French coffee
  7. French people
  8. The corridor from Calais to Jabbeke !
  1. Happens this side of the water too!
  2. So does this.
  3. Yep, you guessed, no shortage of clatty drivers here.
  4. I know, you’re a top notch driver and have no need for such silly rules. Me too!
  5. Oh dear, this happens here too…
  6. Roadworks, road closures, prick truck drivers…
  7. We do have salad cream?
  8. If it’s ■■■■ why drink it?
  9. Wish there were a few more Frogs here, might see some action to improve a drivers lot!
  10. No idea what you’re on about there!
The grass is always greener Jim!

heyhey, we should be more like the French, when is Neil back Jim? :stuck_out_tongue: He will be impressed!

I’m here, well when I say here I mean in Dublin Port with Jim at the moment. :stuck_out_tongue: I haven’t been over to the mainland for months and I’m not missing it in the slightest. In fact partly due to the fact I am not missing it I am changing jobs next week and will be unlikely to ever go over again, apart from holidays or day trips. Good Times!

You know I’m a nosey barsteward so where are you off to now? :grimacing:

Oh dear it has pieed u, off i agree with no 3 on the list, also when are they going to clean the seats on the shuttle, as they are filthy and stinkin they used to have a changable cover on the head rest but not now, :grimacing:
I,ll have to keep going as its all i know, and driving in UK drives me more crackers than i already am :open_mouth:

I am becoming a creature of the night and will be night trunking. I’ve found something even easier than I have now. Start 19:15 and finish between 04:00 and 05:00 Monday to Friday, 4 - 4.5 hours driving a shift, 15 - 20 minutes other work and the rest on POA. Yes I will be using POA as it is a double manned job and when the card is in the second slot it records as POA. To coin a phrase, good times. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Jim has sent so many emails to the shuttle folk I think they have put him on their spam filter. It was thanks to him you had to start showing your booking on ticket to prove you had pre-ordered a meal after he didn’t get his breakfast one day and complained long and loud. I think he may be part French. :stuck_out_tongue:

I shouted at him " I will tell Melanie about you pal "

He said “here’s the phone , … She is my wife you know … Pal !!”

Still didn’t get a breakfast !!

I must have licked thousands of those stamps. Save up for gifts or, if I recall correctly, cash it in at 5.50 Guilders a page. I had an arrangement with the people in the bit you pay for your fuel in Asten truck stop, I could order stuff from the catalogue and have it delivered to them, as they didn’t deliver outside Holland, and I could collect it next time I was passing.

Nah, I don’t drink lattes, they have cow juice in 'em and I don’t have anything to do with that stuff. I’m not lactose intolerant, just intolerant…

A mention again about drivers getting on the wrong bus, how can they do that? it is like they have the attention span of a goldfish. How do they find their drops?

If a bloke with the smelly yellow jumper was on your bus when you get off the club car and the bird with the big nellies wasnt, then you need to look at who else has got the wrong bus. In theory it is even simpler than that, the bus nearest the back goes to the back the other doesn’t

I prefer her with the big nellies though :stuck_out_tongue:

The Spanish must have been the unluckiest drivers to ever use Le Shuttle.
They always seem to suffer a triple blowout driving on/off the train !!

Inselaffe:
Admit it Jim. You’re missing the Lynnster

I do miss her on the radio thats for sure , but me and Lynne are now good friends off the radio
