Yep just take the card out, no need to change it first.
Changing the mode to rest is a myth. For it to even register as rest is must complete it’s full minute for what ever mode you were in and then complete a full minute at rest. Everyone else will be 2 minutes closer to home than you will.
I have ejected my card before now when ive returned to the yard so the mechanics can do stuff to my truck, popped it back in after 45 mins or more and it has registered my daily break so just eject your card is all you do
