just about to enter the world of night tramping and my blasted screen has gone crazy will this be a cheap fix or is it time for a new one and if so whats your choice of value for money lappy
best person to answer is a tech shop but try downloadingthe latest driver. might work but if not my guess is new laptop
You can get replacement screens on ebay and it is usually a fairly simple job to replace the screen, strip down guides are available of most laptops on the net, but they can be expensive so if the laptop is getting on a bit better to replace it. It might not be the screen, it might be the thin ribbon cable that connects the screen to the mainboard and usually passes through one of the hinges and as a result can break after prolonged use. Sometimes it is possible just to replace the cable.
could also be the graphics chip on the motherboard, I had a Hewlett packard laptop that had a failed chip which I replaced and it failed again due to a design fault with the cooling system. Plug a monitor into the laptop to see if it is your screen on the graphics chip.
depends what you mean by gone crazy
also depends what you have if a windows put blinds up or curtains
there is no such thing as cheap tbh
Some viruses can affect the display settings, may be worth having the drive checked
to confirm it’s clean. This may mean removing the h/disk and connecting it to another
PC to scan it from there.
Suppose it does mean what you mean by crazy.
if you are going to get a new one i will recommend a toshiba satellite L500-19x windows 7 i paid £3OO from tesco

yer thanx but with u saying 300 i thought it wud be a bargain, i think u must of got it at the right time for that price
One thing to watch with Toshiba models is they can be a bit fussy about the type of inverter you use to power them in the truck. Same goes for some Sony and Compaq models.
i dont bother with inverters,i use one of these & mines a 19 volt laptop.
