Laptop jumpy with inverter, why?

when i run the lappy through this inverter the mouse goes jumpy and clicks whatever it wants, why is this?

the old inverter ran it fine until i plugged it into the 24v socket when it was a 12v, although the one i just bought is a 24v, but i tried it on a few inverters and a couple of lappy’s on mine and all same, and both in the volvo and the merc.

playing havoc with my late night surfing  any ideas?

Are you using a blue tooth mouse dsiable it and use a USB one

no i’m just using the pad thing on the laptop.

cheers.

when i was looking for a invertor for my laptop i had a lot of trouble finding one that would charge properly,so i ended up getting laptop charger from maplins & its perfect.

tashlad666, here are just a few random ideas for you to consider trying:

  • If you use a mouse that plugs into your laptop, borrow a wireless mouse for a test. Bluetooth mice are inexpensive.

  • If you purchased your power inverter recently, and if you can still exchange it, try to get one by a different manufacturer

  • Could you borrow, just for testing purposes, a power strip which includes power conditioning?

  • Does the mouse pointer jump even without your mouse connected to the laptop? If it does, I believe laptops have a feature to lower the sensitivity of the touchpad. Give that a try.

  • Is the laptop grounded? If not, try grounding it. (You could use a dummy USB cable for this purpose. Plug one end to the laptop, and attach the other end somewhere to the body of the vehicle.)

  • Use a DC - DC adapter instead

Clean the touchpad
