I remember a thread dealing with short-term laptop use in Europe but darned if I can find it anywhere.I vaguely recall folk saying it’s possible to obtain temporary cover minus contract.Hoping to get my arse in a Euro bound wagon fairly soon and would like to imbibe from the foaming goblets of information anyone out there can furnish me with
This thread talks about the different places that you can access free wi-fi. Is that what you were thinking of? Just make sure your laptop is wireless enabled, think all new ones are now anyway.

had one fora couple of years works fine, jst buy yourself a desent ariel the one that comes with it are not worth a light
pretty pointless putting TV on your laptop for euro work … unless you speak the local lingo as you`ll only get local TV, get yourself a reasonable TV & ariel combo for the UK stuff while on this side, and maybe a satellite in a suitcase kit to pick up UK channels while in europe.

I got the sat in a suit case, it is just so much hassle it lives in my garage now, it doesn’t work anywhere in the south of Europe and takes up loads of room in the cab… That said, it has been used a few times, and will be going out with me for the football in S Africa.
The dongle will get you a couple of English language stations sometimes, BBC world news and Sony TV get quite good coverage, but thats about it really.
Some of the poorer countries have many English programs with sub titles as well, Portugal, is good for that.
