Landing-leg winding handles

Well Keith, if i ever find out, i’m going to drive his trailer into a parking bay leaving myself enough room to drive out to the side, then back two loads of reels in beside it cranked up as high as they’ll go!
Could be, Rob, although as you’ve probably seen we have several ‘bright’ English speaking ones too! No, i never had skids on my last two road motors, although we generally used to stick with our own trailer. Couldn’t do without them on this job tho, get them dropped at all sorts of angles!

Dont forget if you lower the trailer suspension it raises the front of the trailer and vice versa

That’d be a nice little extra touch, good thinking! Blimey, you must be really nasty!:wink:

MR VAIN:
For a while we had a ■■■■ about here who would drop his trailer with unit fully raised. I guess he’s moved on, i don’t miss him! Trailers dropped low pees me off. I haven’t any skids, don’t believe in them,

tesco had one or two drivers who drop the trailer too low. i drop the suspension before backing under then lift it anyway out of habit. same when i drop it. wind the legs down with the suspension at normal ride height, pull away from the pin and drop the suspension before pulling right out. someone either drops the suspension before winding the legs down or doesnt wind them all the way down. there have been a couple of times i have had to either lift the trailer on the skids and wind the legs down or lift the trailer in low winding gear. another trick is to drop the trailer suspension as this lifts the front up

i had a rant about these trailers and the office guy tried to blame the shunters. im not their shunters biggest fan since they block half the yard up when they stop for a blether but i did point out the fact that the shunters dont touch the winding legs so it had to be a driver :unamused:

You must have very little to worry about, just do your checks , prior to take off, your not going to change the world, have you any other complaints you want to get off your chest ! get on with it , Flaps up

Thanks very much for your input

Its a right pain in the arse when the handle comes out of your glove and goes through the rear light lens on the unit, whooop’s and £19 later!!

That pees me off too…and the drivers who never use the trailer park brake…we`ve all been given written notices about this practice after someone dropped a trailer…and the next guy who got under it smashed both rear lights, and the back door of the fridge…big repair bill…i find the shunters should take much of the blame too.

I keep my handle in the cab
