This cab is still in the yard on a frame and is for sale. This wagon was ex Millars of Randlestown and was driven by Isabel Millar herself. It was top line stream line 500 rear lift with alloys and air conditioning. This vehicle must have been in excess of £70,000 when new.

Here,s LB,s restored 1959 Leyland Beaver Reg No JOB 417 with a Leyland 600 engine. It was an ex show man,s wagon from Carnforth where LB bought it from and is still in existence today living in the Bradford area.
LB bought this 6 wheel Albion Reiver off Barry Trafford at Brinscall with the promise of a cab that never appeared. LB got it back to yard got it running and sold it off to a gent from the south. When collected it drove onto the lowloader.

This was the Albion that was parked at the Scania dealers for years at Knighton. It can be seen on the LAD John Murphy Flickr site with cab on.

That would be Roy Edwards who ran the Scania agency. He also runs under the name M A Evans Ltd.A good bloke who looks after his drivers.
Cheers Dave.
1963 Leyland Hippo that LB purchased from a chap at Bolton it had a luton body on,she had major surgery on the cab, totally stripped the chassis rebuilt and fully resprayed.
my god that brings back some memories seeing the 143. most days whilst stuck in seaforth corn mills waiting to load Maize Germ i would see lance biscomb scanias parked up in the que with us. good old days
This Leyland Hippo was ordered new by Darley’s Ales from Guiseley near Leeds. It had a 600 engine,6 speed Leyland gear box with overdrive and Leyland back axles. it would be like ordering an FH16 750 today. It would be totally over the top for the job, as it would have a poor pay load and an expensive road fund license due to its unladen weight. There is also another one of these wagons which I last saw at the Pyatts waiting to be renovated. I think when these wagons are fitted with a headboard and a sun visor the appearance is spot on. This is the only LAD Hippo I have seen on the rally circuit. This wagon is near Goole under renovation as the tin worm has taken its toll on the cab again. I hope to see it on the road again!
Evening lance good write up in classic truck there was a name in there I hadn’t heard for a while Les Walling,I’ve been on the back of his rodent a few times some piece of kit was that last time I saw him he was on for steer track in Carlisle area, have you heard owt of him
Ian Noblet LB,s work neighbour was supposed to be going to Malvern with LB but is to busy at work to go ! Anybody with a big bag of spare cash could have bought his immaculate 143.
LB,s yard shunter Scania 111 WEO222T ex Brady,s Transport Barrow used her for 3 years and then sold her on for the engine. . Black shadows stock car coach in back ground !
