Sorry boss all owned outright by LB !!!
sayley-boy:
LB had so much trouble with the DAF he had to get rid,the only manufacturer that had a wagon on the shelf to speak was the “trabant”! (as the welsh contingent call them) Renault. It is a 460 dxi (not many about) that has a Volvo engine, Volvo gearbox and Volvo back end with the familiar trabant cab.LB did the deal getting three years warranty and he had the tipping gear since it is a Volvo underneath. The trabant was bought from JDS Trucks in Blackburn. Only needed to sticker it up and on the road she goes.
The DAF was banded up and down the country for 12 months eventually being sold and put back on the road only to run 2 weeks and blowing the turbo again!
Even dragged Lancy onto the DAF stand at the CV show to see the top brass about the dodgy DAF but to no avail …but the hog roast was good!!!
Here,s a couple of pictures that we are revisiting at the start of the LB era that have come to light!
Here,s Wacko Jacko in the R113 better than a Foden!!! Shipping out to the emerald isle. We dont need fancy paintwork or expensive chrome bits we just get it right!

Hello everyone…
I was 2nd man on this outfit back in 85/86 Lancy Boy was subbie to keep em clean Harry Gornall on shay lane. I got layed off the Brown Buckets aka Carefoots of Longridge and LB snapped me up… There were times when this wagon wouldnt stop for 2 or 3 days when we were running coal from Doncaster up to Wick and Thurso. Always stopping at Ballinluigi at Pitlochry for the mixed grill on the way up and the full monty dustbin lid complete with black pudding on the way down.
This was the back load on the way down…loaded wood bark on dis-used airfield near Invergordon. The other lorry belonged to good friend of LB aka Black shadow on eer I think…Ian Bagot of Ribchester.
I remember the trip he tipped at Wick and we Tipped at Thurso. I remember finishing his breakfast at Berriedale the little cafe in the dip.(coz he didnt eat a lot only weighed about 9 stone wet through).
On the way back down the A9 that day the ministry were at Kingussie there was snow everywhere. they had us in and I remember the ministry man explaining to Lance how double manning works, he said “your doing it all wrong Lance” in an accent not disimilar to Mr Mckay from Porridge.
Going back to Ians lorry it was an A reg 142. V8 jobbie. I always remember the reg was A ***VDA (very dirty animal) if you saw it inside you would understand. I remember doing a day for him and my clothes looked like I been under the lorry…If you read this Ian send us an e,mail might come and see you in Oz one day…
Here she is parked in Shay Lane . Think this would be around Nov 85.coz the thurso pic she got square spotlights as somebody took the rounds off in the open cast at Lugar. I think they are still there!
But thats another story. The last time I saw this truck was in Cherbourg when I was on for TT Thompson. I took a pic and passed on to LB . maybe we can get it on. I will have to get the pics out and see if I can find the diaries I used to keep . I knew they would come in handy one day
M8, you have got the picture of B973 KCM at Cherbourg . Can you please put it on this site. Any info would be welcome , do you know where it is now ? It was in a Scania dealers in 2002.
