I have found a bit of information out about the F88 that came from Australia. Have a look at this web site… oldaussievolvos.com .There is a bit about it on this site. I spoke to the previous owner of the F88 and most of what he told me is on that site.
An interesting site! This appears to be yours, complete with its roo-bar. Robert
There are plenty of people who were closer to Bill than I ever could’ve been, but I will always be left with the impression that Bill did everything as well as he possibly could - whether it was restoring a wagon he remembered from his youth, designing and building his family home, or designing and creating (with his own hands and know-how) a lot of the agricultural and production machinery & equipment used in the Huntapac/Coe House Farms/W&J Hunter Transport companies he built up over the years.
He will be remembered fondly by the many people who knew him, worked for him and looked out for him on rallygrounds around the UK. RIP William.
We once bought a bulk lot of derv filters off our local Volvo dealer which were common to both Scania and Volvo, genuine Volvo branded filters.Once we started using them we began to get motors breaking down with fuel starvation,at first our Traffic office lads blamed our Workshop (totally out of order!) then we turned our attention to the bunkering sites we used but nothing was evident. So we tackled Volvo who denied all responsibilty (as the ■■■■■■■ would!) We stopped using the filters from Volvo and I sent a couple down to the Mill in Devon we hauled from where they made the filter paper for just about all the UK filter manufacturers,FRAM,AC DELCO etc etc.The Mill Lab tested to samples I sent and reported back that the paper was of inferior quality and was breaking down and clogging up,I hasten to add the paper had not been made my our paper mill, but when I set about Volvo the admitted that the filters came from Spain where they were manufactured.IIRC Volvo supplied us with boxes of new filters FOC and a “token” very small credit note for all the Aggro we had had.VOLVOS------a load of crap !! Cheers Bewick.

Penny-pinching never pays, Dennis- you should have known that!
It wasn’t bloody penny pinching they were “kosher” Volvo parts. But I can own up to dropping a bollock while trying to save money.I once bought a set of pistons and liners for Scania 81’s off a firm called Swedish Truck Parts, they absolutetly 100% gauranteed they were off the same German production line as those supplied to Scania !! We used the liners on one job and the pistons on another engine, guess what !,both engines failed, ■■■■ it !I was that mad I got the Scania technical engineer out and he examined them and said indeed they were off the same line BUT they were from the approximately the 10% that their QA people rejected out of every batch !! Could I get any compo from Swedish Truck Parts, could I ■■■■.The supplier had been OK for none mechanical parts,Light lenses, door handles etc etc,but not for engine or drive line parts.Cheers Bewick.
