Is it not about time that someone came up with a device that automatically applies the park brake when the weight comes off the drivers seat? Can’t be hard to do as nearly all new cars have sensors in the seats to warn you to use your seat belt when there is weight on the seats.

Our dafs have a warning alarm which sounds when handbrake is off and door is open.

All Dafs do that which is a good idea, but it wasn’t enough to stop this from happening!

As do ours - but in addition to the standard alarm chimes and warning light, the company had them all fitted with a spoken warning device that shouts “HANDBRAKE NOT APPLIED!”

We’ve got a 12 plate CF on a long term hire from Ryder and if you open the door with the handbrake off, a spoken alarm goes off saying ‘Warning, handbrake not applied’. Quite hard not to notice it really. Not sure if its a standard DAF feature or a Ryder add on.

What a waste of truck, wish it was an axor that’d been destroyed…

new bumper, new headlight bracket, new corner panel, couple new track rods/tie rods and new shreddies for the driver n should be back on road
