Anyone been to said place? Going up there for first time tomorrow just wondered best way in and opening times etc please. Also a low down on what it’s like inside the quarry! Cheers.
A65 Skipton to Kirby Lonsdale turn right onto B6480 into Settle go thru tight village and turn right onto B6479 passing Langcliffe,Stainforth as you come to Helwith bridge road goes to right you go straight on which is called austwick road go round to left over bridge go past pub on right and first road on right pass cottages take second road on right runs onto weighbridge :BD24 0EL Postcode. Quarry OK Very regimental about hi-viz helmets etc. Dont go down to load in the plant load with the shovel if possible! Good Luck!
you’ll need flashing beacons too,and i’ll second the loading shovel bit, loading under the hopper is not good
you also need a working reversing camera, hi viz, if you not got an electric sheet then stop on road in and roll it off, if you got a cb then i think its channel 30 and you will be able too speak too the control room if you are loading out of hopper ( put some extra on front of trailer too aid traction when going too weigh out and keep the mid lift up and if its an auto box motor then keep it in manual and stay in the same gear or kiss the half shafts goodbye) 7am start i think, last time i was in i got chucked out as my reversing camera didint work when the weighbridge guy asked too see it working
Thanks for the replies lads! No beacons or reversing camera needed there! Also it is 7.30 start. Any vehicle arriving before 7.30 will be parked up for 1 hour as these are planning restrictions which were agreed with the National Trust. I loaded dust right down in the quarry bottom, what a pain in the arse it is getting out! I lifted my mid axle and put it in manual and just took it steady away! Thanks again!
i must have caught the guy on a bad day then but it worked out better for me as got a better load from millom right upto aberdeen
