Labour.......

why do they not want to take haulage into public ownership

How would they even go about it? Even given an excess of cash to spend - it would be rather ■■■■■■■■■■ to grab all the various sized transport yards about the country, and bring it under one single centralized rule…

I’d reckon that someone like Edward Longshanks rather than Edward Stobart - would have found “uniting the country” rather easier in their day…

It was a massive ■■■■ up last time they tried after world war two

because theyre not communists

Aren`t they?
The Daily Mail* seem to think they are.

*Thats the Daily Mail NewsGuard rated 1 out of 5 for accuracy, the same score the Kremlins pet RT got!
"Visitors to Mail Online who use Microsoft Edge can now see a statement asserting that “this website generally fails to maintain basic standards of accuracy and accountability” and “has been forced to pay damages in numerous high-profile cases”.

You mean like back in the day with BRS and their regions

they wont do that as they have read the forums on here,

When it comes to “officialdom” and “lying” - they do it so often, that occasionally they can slip out an uncomfortable truth that got hidden amongs the rest of the bull - routinely disregarded as “rubbish” by the public.

FFS even back in the Black and White news days - people used to casually say on the streets “Surely you don’t believe what you read in the newspapers - do you?”

They would not take over because trucks are large cash cow withe no union to deal with like the firemen, just stuff the regs on and make them pay…no opposition … :imp:

Would it not be easier just to make the companies treat the workers well and pay a living wage?

My late father never forgave the post war labour government he had worked for a company called Annable transport in shepshed leicestershire when British road services took over they closed the depot and my dad left .This a picture of a prewar foden and my dads friend Fred Ketcher .Secondly this is a BRS AEC stolen from a local operator

Nice photos, proper truck drivers.

I have never forgiven the labour party for a good many things, if anyone thinks a marxist government is a good idea they must be insane.

I’m old enough to remember the 3 day week and the winter of discontent the power cuts and the comedy that was state run business I don’t want a re run.

I want a socialist state which is what the labour party want they are not pushing hardline marxist policie regardless if that is what they truly want.
But that’s higly subjective. Speak to some americans about trialing our healthcare system and benefit system over there and they would go nuts claiming that you are a marxist.

Also your example of the 3 day week were down to a labour government implenting austerity measures on the worker class. Hardly a marxist view. Heck if the labour government of the 70s were marxist the workers would not of gone on strike. Also didnt the conservatives have the same issue as well?
But I dont think just listing stupid things previous governments have done is fair because you can just do the same for the tories.

You are right that chances are Labour will mess a lot of stuff up if they get into power. But a lot of their polices aim to do real good for the average guy on the street. The Tories just want to maintain the status quo and improve things for businesses. Which is fine, but it doesnt help me.

What did labour do for the average truck driver…answer on a postage stamp…they do not like road transport end of.

How about free or subsidised public transport for the 30-65 age group?
The limpers should easily qualify for the part time sector discount
