Knutsford services southbound

Beware all you boys n girls the parking charge at Knutsford has just gone up, £250 for 4minutes yep that’s how long I’d bin stood when they put the wheel clamp on, I was inside the building at this point, saving the parking area of that nasty smell especially in hot weather. Mmmm just pulled in to use the loo could’nt get a parking space as several were taken up by caravanners and a ■■■■■■ van so bobbed the truck on the end of the line, although this was not impeding the flow of traffic it was not in a marked bay according to the cowboy clampers, when I pointed out that in fact there was no bays empty and I needed the loo they said I should have just kept going, well in future it looks like I’ll just have to go back to watering the wheels and bugger the smell.

One of the lad’s I work with got done there yesterday morning, says he had just stopped for the toilet and then when he came out he had been clamped.
The company paid the release fee but he will have to pay it back.
I thought we came to work to earn money, not to get robbed by these scumbags. :exclamation:

funny that cos yesterday morning i saw a magnum on there with the wheel clamp ■■■■■■■ with rope across his front bumper and the chains still padlocked together and disappearing underneath the front bumper towards the steering racks. i took 2 pics with fone cam but will have to wait till weekend to put them up.

Bolt clippers in the toolbin it is then…

I tried to get in there last week, again a transit van and caravan quickly nipped in and nabbed the last couple of spaces. I was knackered and needed to take 5mins catnap. Thought about sticking it on the end of the row but there was someone else there so had to keep on going.

Disgraceful behaviour by the clampers. I dont live too far from there so if I ever got clamped id give them the keys “youve just bought a truck mate” and gone home. Its an old clunker anyway.

phone limey phill for assisstance.

Nobody ha pointed out the fact that there are big signs banning trucks from Knutsford Services. Surely then no truck should be in there. It’s not as if there is a big stretch before the next services in either direction.

I was always under the impression that one of the conditions of the government granting a licence to operate motorway services was that they had to supply parking and toilets free of charge.

Obviously I am either wrong, or the conditions have changed.

I forgot the link, getting old!!!

The signs telling you there’s no truck parking at Moto Knutsford Southbound are before you get to Moto Poplar Services and Truckstop, which are only 5 minutes before. There are a few truck parking spots, but they are usually filled by caravans or ■■■■■■ type vans. Moto obviously want us to use the Poplar rather than Knutsford and are now upping the stakes, if you decide to ignore their wants.

Been reading up a bit on clamping, anyone clamped should look up some stuff on the internet or visit the citzens advice bureo and decide if its worth maybe taking the clamping company to the smalls claims court if they havent followed guidelines to the letter.

Supposedly people who do take them to the small claims court are succesfull a lot of the time, in terms of the fee being charged being unresonable. A court maybe decide parking for 4mins in a place where you werent blocking access was excessive or unjust.

i cant beleive no one has invented pocket size cutting torch with enough gas to cut the clamp of, place the clamp on cat walk then discard in a skip some where never to be seen again. :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

There must be one somewhere… if anyone finds it I’ll be first in the queue to buy one!
Just careful with it around the tyres!! :open_mouth:

The signs actually indicate no trucks, rather than no truck parking. How they have got away with this is beyond me. They actually do have some truck parking spots and they do have truck fuel pumps. I know ‘they would like’ us to use Lymm as it leaves their Hotel operation on the small site they have there running a lot smoother if there is no trucks blocking the site up. Ok, someones going to say use Lymm, well Lymm is strictly an ‘off line’ services. If you can’t pull in at Knutsford and you don;t want to go ‘offline’ that equates to Charnock Richard to Sandbach, and Sandbach has limited parking. I don;t see how that fits in with the governments targets of MSA at roughly 30 minutes intervalls being achieved . And, most importantly of all, if MOTO ever sold Lymm, we would have an unusuall situation whereby , if they where succesfull, they would have a MSA that did not allow HGV’s. Once you get one, you often get another.
