Knocking the job on the head

Well thats it,after 40 yrs at this game I’ve had enough.
I have just spent Christmas in the truck in Italy, and on the way back home by the time I got to Calais
I,d managed to get 4 gimmegrants in the trailer, 2 found at the French heartbeat monitor, all clear…No
2 more found by the UK Border Farce,
OK after opening up the curtain sider twice DFDS finished and P&O 1700 closed up. I was sent from there to the Stinky Express, (I feel sorry for the mini bus drivers) Yep again strip the trailer and nothing found this time Yippee. onto train and managed to get to Clacket lane.
So I missed Christmas, my poor wife has Cancer and we’ve decided that I should knock this job on the head, so we can spend more time together.
Oh how I wish we could turn back the clocks to how it was in the 80’s.

Happy New Year to you all

So you must have only found out the wife had cancer while you were away this Christmas that’s very sad and you getting delayed trying to get home my heart goes out to you but your making a good decision giving it up regardless off the flip flops

That’s a big assumption you’re making there.
Cancer comes in many forms and many people survive with cancer for years. It isn’t possible for most to just give up work, and live at any sort of reasonable level without working.
.
Good luck to the OP, Blitz, in deciding to knock distance work on the head. Whether he is going on more local driving stuff, giving up driving altogether,or retiring, best of luck to you both.

Franglais is on the money, cancer, or any long term and fatal, illness does not come with a convenient time table.
All the best to you and your wife blitz, make the most of it.

The cancer thing aside there’s plenty of work where you don’t have to be in Italy at Xmas and can be sat at home and then in the new year returning to a trucking job where you don’t have to worry about finding slalom seekers in the back of your truck.
