When looking for work, advice given in the past has been to knock on doors, be around when they need you, for example early in the morning.
A list containing these pearls of wisdom would surely be helpful to everyone.
I presume it’s literal knocking and not speculative emails or phone calls etc, but finding where they are all located is another thing entirely. Perhaps Google, yellow pages forum members? Any other helpful suggestions welcome! I’m in the Fife area by the way.
yeah this sounds like a good idea perhaps someone could set up one of those free websites with towns and then a list of haulage companies in that area or even a county by county then a list and a google map image?
You could use the VOSA operator search facility, and narrow down your search for example: operators in a certain town, those with trailers on their O-licence etc.
It can work as well … Only last week I rang a firm out of the blue and was asked if I was available straight away , only the fact I have to work notice stopped me from driving for them the following day !!

Yes, knock and see them face to face, its all too easy to delete an email and disregard, I have found some places are taken aback by people still knocking on doors, but I feel it gives them chance to make a first impression, smart, articulate and smiling
