Kirk Sandall Industrial Estate

I’ve been told that there is a low bridge on the route in/out of Kirk Sandall ind est, but can’t see one on google maps. Anybody know if there is one, and if so, what height it stands?

Where the pin is,seems to be a couple of routes into the estate avoiding it though…
Looking again I’d say this is the best/only way I’m if your over height …

Turning right before the bridge and using Clay lane west looks like a no go option as 7.5T and single track for a bit of a distance.

15.3 just after the Sainsbury’s roundabout coming from the m18. If you’re higher than that I can give you an alternative route.

Oh yeah and that one by rockware glass 14.3.

I used to load at a glass factory around that area and yes there is a low bridge 14’ 3" at Long Sandall off A630.

The way WH Malcolm’s do it…

With 15’ 9" and higher trailers is.

Off the A630 onto Barnby Dun Road and go past the glass factory then turn left into Thorn lane just before the bridge. Turn right at the T junction and go along Clay Lane West, you’ll now go over the railway line and that takes you into Kirk Sandal Ind Est.

Blue route avoids both. Red goes under bridges. Black cross is where estate is.

I’ve been told we’re only allowed to go in from the bridge end, and not the village, I run 4.5m trailers, so going under the bridge is definitely not an option.

With all due respect my way (blue route) I think is better. I see a lot of trucks doing this. I live in donny by the way.

The blue route is all good. I’m local. [emoji1360]

Local also, blue route is the only option to get to it and probably the best way, M18 junction 4, come in that way, you avoid the town centre then.

I know I’m not here so much these days but this is what TNUK is all about. Guy stuck and looking for a bit of help and problem solved by guys taking a couple minutes to help.

And not one single sarky comment asking why he doesn’t use a lorry satnav or buy a truck map…

Blue route is the way I’ve been going into that industrial estate for nearly 20 years.

Just been told that the customer, Sita, have a big sign up stating that we must only enter the ind est via the bridge end, and not the other way. Apparently it’s something to do with their waste licence.

May I suggest you duck then…[emoji15][emoji15]

Surely they must have an exemption for higher vehicles, how do the ro-ro boys get in with the bigger bins?

No idea mate, but apparently they’re adamant you can’t enter from the other end. Company I’m subbing to reckon they’ve got their own 4.5m trailer under the bridge, but I’m taking that with a pinch of salt.

See my previous directions…

If you are over 15’ 3" the only practical route get to the industrial estate and observe the SITA ruling is past the glass factory and turn left onto Thorn Lane before the 14’ 3" bridge. You can’t turn before the glass factory because Clay Lane West can only be entered over 7.5 tons by going along Thorn Lane.

That means coming off the M18 at J4 won’t work.

A stupid local council/H&S/local resident/whoever/whatever ruling that forces more trucks through the town from the M18 J3 or the A1M J36/37/38
