Kingpin weight

Question for you knowledgable people: on a trailer plating certificate it says the max kingpin weight. Is this the max weight that can be imposed on the kingpin? And if so what is the calculation to work this out?

In simple terms if the trailer has a design weight of 39000kg and its a three axle trailer, each axle has a maximum load of 8000kg 3 x 8000kg = 24000kg. Max King pin load will be 15000kg.

You will need the dimensions of your load to work out where you put it on the trailer as to avoid overloading there isn’t a calculations that works with every load.

Trailers come with GTW gross train weight and TAW total axle weight on their plate.
The load on the king pin is decided by the drawing vehicles axle(s) limits
