KING OF THE ROAD

MR VAIN:
Lots of lights? Yeah got them.
Shiny bits? Yeah got them too.
Frilly curtains? Yep!
Do I own my own motor? Yep!
Is my motor paid for? Yep!
Do I feel the need to justify the way I run my world to anyone? Nope!
Do I think I’m king of the road? No. But I do run a clean motor, I work hard and play hard and I do it under my own terms and conditions within the perameters of he law.

Do I think you have a chip on yr shoulder? Who knows. Yr the one asking daft questions!!!

Did I bite? Yeah it looks that way. But I’ve had my say, I’m happy!

Isn’t it strange how the frilly curtain brigade never come on having a go at people who drive a plain lorry :open_mouth: Take Rob here as a prime example, whether you like Mr V or not, he obviously spends a lot of time and effort getting it and keeping it that way, what business is it of anyone else? It’s his motor and he can do what he wants to it, I’ve lost count of the number of posts slagging the blingmobiles off, if you don’t like them, don’t look at them, it’s simple really :unamused:

Couldn’t agree more.
How ya doin Rob ?

Ian58:
It’s quite simple.
The more bling on a truck then the smaller the ■■■■■■■■ of the driver. It’s a medical condition called “micro ■■■■■”.
Scania drivers suffer from this more than most; just ask their girlfriends.

■■■■… so your telling me i’ll suffer severe shrinkage in a couple of months time when i get a scania

i like bling but not too much , if i fitted light bar & lights i have a few days off i’d return to bent metal & live wires hanging around , shorting out all my normal lights :unamused: no just a few extra vynal legends thats me done

really not keen on this scania thing now :frowning:

j davidson by any chance hah !before ya ask i dont work for them just seen them about !

No Mark, was a local KIrkham/Blackpool area co.

The next morning after posting the above I must eat my words. Just seen the same wagon again and indeed it was J Davidson. Strangely enough I met it in almost the same place on the road where i saw it last time.

Appears may be carting scrap from Fleetwood to Liverpool.

Yep, got me bang to rights it’s J Davidson, traveling as far as Fleetwood, that’ll be like international work for them. Mostly tootle about South Manchester and on to Liverpool docks.

It,s a free country, just pull the frilly curtains out of your peripheral view and turn the ******* fog lamps off.

The thing is, in all walks of life some peoples jobs are also their hobbies and trucking is no exception.
If you enjoy blinging up your truck good luck to you, but as Mike says, just pull the frillys back a tad for safety reasons.

I (kind of) agree with you… I can (kind of) understand it if you own the truck but I can’t if you don’t own the truck.I understand the spot lights (sort of) but I can’t, for the life of me, understand the masses of marker lights, frilly curtains, bull fighting spears (■■?), soft toys, michelin men, chrome silhouettes and all the other tacky guff screwed, nailed, blu-tacked and drawing pinned to the truck. FFS, it’s a truck not a play-pen!

It’s a good job we don’t all like the same thing though, the world would be a boring place :open_mouth:

theres something about mr vain though, hes not too over the top its just about right. ok the frilly curtains i wouldnt have but each to their own. plus i like red .

its comical really, all the crap in this job we have to put up with, pay,conditions etc etc etc and you manage to fill 2 pages on here with a discussion about lights and frilly curtains, i have both as my customer likes a smart truck and as long as i have paid for them and havent asked some members on here to have a whip round for them then seriously, what is the problem :question: {and i dont even drive a scania either :laughing: }

I’d happily have curtains, lights, michelin men etc in my truck…if my employer pays for it, but I’d rather have the money put in my wages. Having said that I buy CB, ordnance maps etc but it’s removable if I’m told I’ve got to have another truck.

I started a job once and the unit had fancy curtains,
the 1st time I parked next to guy from the same company.

The guy asked where I got the curtains, cuz he is looking for a set.

So I ask him if he wants to swop and it took me a few minutes for me to
convince him I was serious.

So we swapped and hey presto we were both happy.

Do whatever makes you happy is the advice from the colonies. :sunglasses:

curtains across side window… check(stops sun glare thru side windows)… bling… yup got to keep them clean… nothing so un’ professional as a dirty truck… or people who put their feet up on the dash with shoes on :smiling_imp: (pet hate) nothing wrong with taking pride in what you do for a living 'professional’s after all eh  a clean tidy well presented truck shows this…

Try muckshifting this time of year, clean it that much you’d never leave the pit. I agree with keeping it presentable, but why should drivers have to buy tat to show off someone elses vehicle? Hose the mud off chassis, axles etc, and use pressure washer for 10 mins at the end of the day (if I’m finished in good time). We’ve had drivers who go in before they get paid/after hours and on sundays to clean their trucks-WHY?

it depends on if ur into the trucks or if you do it to ‘pay the bills’ i guess mate… personally i love them…i clean mine whenever i get back to the yard… sometimes its not for a few days or all week but as soon as i can she’s washed… i dont understand some drivers who say ‘i dont get paid to wash it’■■ i love to see them shining looking good… its all personal taste… spend so much time in them its nice to have cosy comforts… i dont have any shoes in my truck… they are left on the top step… all fitted carpets etc… i get ripped about it but its my choice… its nicer then having big clobbers on ur feet all day … plus makes moving round the cab so easy
