I was happily reversing an loaded tri axle curtainsider into a loading area today, thankfully I was going slowly as I knew there were FLT’s around.
But a dumb FLT driver shot out of a side doorway across the back of my truck & into the opposite area, & I mean “shot”, his FLT was flat out. Then he did it again !
I had reversing lights & beeper plus hazard lights on.
The eastern European ■■■■ then told me (in broken Engleesh) it was my fault as he’d pipped his horn before crossing behind a reversing artic !
He went a bit quiet after I got out of my cab & followed him into the shed & “explained” my point of view…

To be fair, when I jump on a fork lift in our yard, I don’t wait for ANYONE!!
Thanks for clearing that up for me, I couldn’t think for the life of me what a FLT was, I had come up with some beauties though
F… G Large Truck was one of them
Do we really want ultra sensible forkies?
I don’t, It’ll take the fun out of it.
It’s like being ■■■■■■ playing hop scotch on a mine field. Crazy, Stupid, But fun at the time.

Most of the FLT drivers I encounter are a few brain cells short. The problem is that it is always the lorry driver at fault if anything goes wrong.
I had an idiot stick the forks into the load and then his boss refused the damaged goods.
one of my drivers had an idiot on a FLT use the side of his trailer for the break, when he got level with the rear of the unit, he smashed the tail lamp off the truck
his boss paid for the lamp and the labour for fitting it
i got my driver to get a signed confession out of the ■■■■■■ to say it was his fault, and if you have seen the size of the driver, the ■■■■■■ FLT driver was not really going to refuse

I agree, i would rather they rush about and tip me in half an hour rather than driving up to the trailer, putting their handbrake on, leveling the forks, leveling the tilt, handbrake off, drive in at 0000000000.1 mph then drive at 00000000.2 mph 50 yards across the yard.

Thers no exuse for a forklft to touch the side of a truck but if he managed to hit the lights shurly either the driver had not parked straight or the lights are out too far. but fair play for getting it paid for i always use to get forklift damage paid for. the worst thing was wheel trims

no exuses for a forklift to touch the side of a truck but shurly to hit the lights either the truck was not in a straight line or the lights are too far out. i used to hate it when thay did wheel trims in

if the truck and trailer are perfectly straight, and the FLT has the mast all the way back, it WILL hit the lamp unit on the rear of the unit
next time you see a fork lift, pull the mast all the way back and look at how far the bottom sticks out from the top
I’ve had a non english speaking forkie (no Orys he wasn’t EE) loading full IBC’s, mast on full tilt and ramming into the tyres the bottom corner of the mast looked sharp, I told him once politely, the second time I wasn’t as polite and made it clear to stop loading, his supervisor got the message across eventually.
The funniest one was when I’d nipped to the customers loo, I came back to find all 8 pallets on I was almost impressed, till I noticed all were the wrong way, having needing all the space for the rest of my collections, I explained my plight the forkie goes in to warehouse, I hears lots of commotion in the warehouse and the forkie is nose to nose to with his supervisor , I couldn’t understand a word (these were EE Orys) but there was spital flying and pushing and shoving with foreheads, and just like that they went quiet jumped on a FLT each and sorted out the load, not another word between them, It was just so surreal, I thought I was watching a comedy act and didn’t get the joke.

I never understood why they want to put them on sideways… All I can think is that the carry them that way and are too lazy to turn them round.
Our warehouse stocks vast amounts of white powder (titanium dioxide) which is packed in paper sacks and shrink-wrapped 40 to a pallet. When you lift them you have to be careful NOT to go right in because the back of the forks can rip the bottom bags, which makes them unsaleable. When a delivery arrives from the continent, the first thing is to look for little heaps of powder and all damage is noted, photographed and the carrier gets charged. I have seen a 30 pallet load with 20+ damaged pallets on it - they sent that one back to Belgium.

Yes i know how far in it goes with mast back. thats how thay do the wheel trims but iv never had lights done by A mast unless truck was not straight .most asda and morrison sites have their mast back as defult
For those of us who have never been on a FLT driving course- the first thing you learn is, “Never touch the brake pedal, always use the side of the truck to stop the FLT”.
From my fifty years of experience, I’m sure that this is true.

Well if i ever go to Asda or Morrisons and have to side tip they wont be getting their first 6 pallets off the headboard then because they will hit my side skirts, wheel nut covers (i dont use them anymore because they always get snapped off), and my wheel trims.
