killing me

just like to say hi to every 1 as I’m new to this.

just need to ask a few questions.
i work for a company that does multi drop in class 2 and 7&half tone.
we deliver flat pack kitchens white goods and furniture. we go out with a 2man crew. so we can swap driving. and some times just the one driver. and a mate. we can deliver up to 25 drops a day. even top floor flats.so we only do about 7 hours driving and the rest off loading.
they say we can work 15 hours in 24. and cut rest down to 9 three times a week. but by the time i push bike home that takes half hour and then bath cook and rest i get about 5 hours sleep. by the end of every day i an knackered i go to work at 6 and finish at 8 or 9 so my 4 year old son is a sleep when i go and the same when i get back. do not get me wrong i am lucky to have a job i know. but do not want to kill my self doing it.
is there any way i can make it better or have they got me over a barrel. :frowning:

your pretty screwed tbh, yes you can work 15 hours in one day and have 9 hours rest,

only thing i could say is get another job but thats a bit hard right now.

but im sure u cant do 15 hours a week all week, it is killer doing multi drop that involves handballs all day long, i use dto do flour deliveries and i was dead by the end of it, now refuse to go back because of my back.

mayby you could have a quiet word with your boss saying its destroying your family life or lack of anyway.

Have a read of this

GV 262

A driver may reduce his daily rest period to no less than 9 continuous hours, but this can be done
no more than three times between any two weekly rest periods, and no compensation for the
reduction is required. A daily rest that is less than 11 hours but at least 9 hours long is called a
reduced daily rest period.

you must remember that you are also governed by Road Transport Directive

have a look

it may help

all i can say is welcome to transport

there are h and s rules regarding stairs if it wont go in the lift i think from memory it 4 flites of stairs.

Yes, legally you can have a certain amount of reduced rest BUT you cannot be made to have it.

Simple answer to all this - IF TOO TIRED - DO NOT DRIVE

SAFETY over-rides everything
